Daily Jam - Making Time
I first heard Creation's "Making Time" via the "Rushmore" soundtrack. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case for a lot of you out there, but from my understanding, the '60s garage rock band's name was the inspiration for shoegaze purveyors Creation Records. And that's pretty cool. Anyway, the song's a blast too. Listen below, our Daily Jam.
Hordes of Wurdalak
One of the things i love about a lot of dungeon synth bands are the borderline ridiculous names they have. It's a lot like black metal bands where you can tell exactly what they're going to sound like based entirely on what the artists call themselves. And so i guess it makes sense that Italy artist Hordes of Wurdalak makes a dark, lo-fi, and sometimes creepy mix of both dungeon synth and black metal. Check out "Eternal Crypts of Solitude" below and cop the "Castle of the Unlight" cassette here.

Daily Jam - Legacy
In about 4 hours i'm set to get my wisdom teeth removed. I'm sure a lot of you did it in your teens, but for some reason i decided to wait until my 40s. Needless to say, i'm not exactly stoked about the idea. Anyway, here's "Legacy," a track from one of my favorite '90s UK acts Mansun and our Daily Jam.
The Murlocs
Australia keeps on pumping out the psych and garage rock bands with gleeful abandon. And they're just all so damn good. The latest from The Murlocs drops this summer, and you should definitely check out the bouncy, clapping, and catchy as hell first single "Francesca." Watch the video below, dig on that harmonica, and then pre-order the upcoming "Bittersweet Demons" LP here from ATO.

Telematics
Here's some cool and noisy post punk from a New York band made up of a bunch of guys from a bunch of other bands. There's a little bit of goth and death rock hanging in the sounds of Telematics as well. Check out "Grief Parasite" below and download it here from the band.
Daily Jam - I Know
There was a brief moment in time when i was in college that i was just a little bit obsessed with the weird sounds of The Beta Band. Groove with me with "I Know," our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Vitamin C
Just gonna groove on some krautrock today. So should we all. Here's "Vitamin C" from Can, our Daily Jam.
Molly Burch
Austin's Molly Burch has been broadening her sound over the last year or so, adding pure pop elements to her dreamy, Americana country sound. Weirdly it works for her going either way. New tune "Control" finds her wading through poppy alt-rock waters. Check it out below and pre-order her upcoming new album "Romantic Images" here from Captured Tracks.

Lunation Fall
Feeling the MBV-vibes of Lunation Fall this morning. The French shoegaze band's album "Near" is out now. Get it here and listen to the album opening "Sweet Misery" below.

Daily Jam - Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta
I don't know if you know this, but one of the great pleasures of life is a chilled out drive around the neighborhood listening to Geto Boys. What else are you going to do this Sunday afternoon? Here's "Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta," our Daily Jam.
Sven Wunder
I am just constantly blown away by the music of Swedish artist Sven Wunder, his mix of jazz and psych and world and library sounds feeling like a crate digger's absolute dream. New album "Natura Morta" finds the artist channeling Morricone and other Italian film score composers to explore nature and humanity. Check out "En Plein Air" below and pre-order the record here from Piano Piano, Mr. Bongo, and Light in the Attic.
THROTH
Bristol band THROTH are proving to quite prolific, having just release their latest effort "The Truth that I Despise," their third album of the year so far. The band makes a heavy, doomy, sometimes spacey mix of shoegaze and grunge. I would have been all about this stuff when i was a teenager, and i'm all about it now too. Check out the album opening "Dead Eyes" below and download the album here.
BIG|BRAVE
A lot of the times when i'm sifting through albums on Bandcamp, i'll see a name or a piece of album cover art and will wonder to myself what it must sound like. Sometimes i'm surprised and sometimes i catch the label the band is on and get a better idea about what i'm about to unleash upon myself. The latter was the case with Montreal's BIG|BRAVE. Being on Southern Lord clued me in to the fact that the trio's new album "Vital" was going to be noisy, was certainly going to be heavy, and was probably going to rule. It does all of those things. Check out "Of This Ilk" below and pre-order the record here.
Earth Girl Helen Brown Center for Planetary Intelligence Band
San Francisco trio The Sandwitches were a mainstay around these parts during their tenure. And while they may have called it quits, we still get music from its members here and there, in particular from Heidi Alexander and her Earth Girl Helen Brown project. That project has grown and is currently releasing music inspired by the solar system as Earth Girl Helen Brown Center for Planetary Intelligence Band. That may be a mouthful, but the jams are tight. Check out the weird psychedelia and motorik beat of "Earth" below and pre-order the upcoming "Earth" cassette here from Empty Cellar Records.

Amigo the Devil
Here's some music from the Texas Hill Country from an artist by the name of Amigo the Devil. There's a real murderfolk vibe throughout new album "Born Against," with elements of old school country music, folk, and other Americana weirdness bubbling and churning away. Check out the lament to getting to sober, "Small Stone," below and download the whole album here.
Daily Jam - Trip Along
It's been over a year and a half since i left my old job, and i'm still not 100% used to having Saturdays off yet. I guess that's what almost two decades in retail will do to you. Working or not, enjoy your day today. Here's "Trip Along" from Tripping Daisy, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Scentless Apprenctice
I listened to Nirvana's "In Utero" in full for the first time in a while the other day, and that thing still rips just as hard as it did when i was in the ninth grade. Listen to "Scentless Apprentice" below, our Daily Jam.
Minuit Machine
I just found out that French synth wave artist Hélène de Thoury has a new album coming out this summer with her solo project Hante., and today i find a new EP from her other project Minuit Machine. Everything's coming up Milhouse. Anyway, check out the dark and propulsive "Sisters" below and download the "Basic Needs" EP here via WARRIORECORDS.
The Bleak Engineers
It's looking like a rainy, foggy day here in Austin, so some cold and moody darkwave from Russian duo The Bleak Engineers should serve me just right. Icy synths, a driving beat, and the monotone vocal delivery of Zombierella of Messer Chups. Check out "Unconscious" below and order the album of same name here from Mosaique Records.
Pictureplane
The 100% Electronica record label has been churning out the releases lately making me weirdly nostalgic for the chilled out synth sounds of 10+ years ago. It's weirdly comforting. Electronic artist Pictureplane, who i think i heard for the first time on the first Health "Disco" remix album and then saw perform at Fun Fun Fun Fest way back when it was held at Waterloo Park in downtown Austin, is set to release his new album "Dopamine" this summer. Check out the cool synths of "Avalanche" below and pre-order the album here.

Antoni Maiovvi & ANTA
Berlin by Bristol analog synth wizard Antoni Maiovvi has teamed with Bristol prog rock act ANTA to create "Church of the Second Sun," a mash-up of sorts of horror synth and heavy prog. It rules. Check out the video for "As Above, So Below" below and download the album here or pre-order the upcoming vinyl release here via Mondo Tees.
Daily Jam - The Year of the Tiger
"The Year of the Tiger" b/w "Big Star" 7" was the only release from English band Jackal way back in 1974. It's a little bit glam. It's a little bit psych. It's a little bit classic rock. And it's a little bit awesome. Check out the A-side below, our Daily Jam.

The Polyphonic Spree - Porpoise Song
The Polyphonic Spree are back! This time in cover album form. On "Afflatus," the band of merrymakers covers everyone from INXS to The Bee Gees, as well as one of my favorite weird pop tunes, "Porpoise Song" by The Monkees. Check it out below, snag a download of the album here, or pre-order the glow-in-the-dark vinyl here from Good Records.
Midwife
New Mexico by way of Denver artist Madeline Johnson was set to take her Midwife project on a number of tours last year until the pandemic upended all of that. So instead, she recorded a new album. Check out the wistful "Christina's World" below and pre-order the upcoming "Luminol" LP here from The Flenser.
A Place to Bury Strangers
New tunes coming our way in July from Brooklyn noisy shoegaze band A Place To Bury Strangers. Check out "End of the Night" below and pre-order the "Hologram" EP here from the band's own label DedStrange.
Lovelorn
Philly duo Lovelorn is one of those bands i had every intention of checking out at SXSW last year before COVID shut it all down. It's good to see that they're still doing their thing, a propulsive mix of industrial rock, electronic pop, and neo-psychedelia, and that they've got a full-length album dropping this summer. Check out the propulsive "Sickness Reward" below and pre-order the "What's Yr Damage" LP here via 6131 Records.
Daily Jam - Speed of Sound
We all got cheated when Chris Bell died in 1978. The former Big Star member and power pop singer/songwriter pursued a solo career for a few years, the output of which finally ended up on the posthumously released "I Am the Cosmos" LP in 1992. I wish there could have been more. Listen to "Speed of Sound" below, our Daily Jam.

Kuollut
Finnish electronic artist Kuollut makes a mix of trance, new age, and witch house to craft something trippy and ethereal. The artist sites Enigma as a primary influence, and they aren't lying. There are some serious "pure moods" vibes all over new album "Seeds." Check out the worldly and dreamy "Savannah" below and get the album here from United Burial.
Daily Jam - Pearl
Calm you nerves today with some soothing and dreamy sounds from Chapterhouse. That goes for all of you. Here's the Rachel Goswell assisted "Pearl," our Daily Jam.

Hallows
Last year, Seattle synth pop duo Hallows released a pretty great EP of icy coldwave jams called "Subtle." The band is set to follow that up with a full-length release later this year, and we've got the first single out now for our perusal. Check out the very goth "All That Is True Dies" below and download the track along with a couple of remixes here via Cold Transmission Music.
Daily Jam - Deer Forest
If you woke up this morning thinking what you really need today is some spacey new age with flashes of jazz that wouldn't sound out of place at your local planetarium or as a soundtrack to life emerging from the sea, have i got a tune for you. Check out "Deer Forest" from French trumpeter Pierre Dutour from the 1979 album "Top Fiction." It's our Daily Jam.

The Gabbard Brothers
Here's a hazy and dusty Americana psych diddy from Ohio duo The Gabbard Brothers. Some real Neil Young vibes going on here on "Sell Your Gun Buy a Guitar." Check it out below and grab the 7" here from Colemine Records.
Daily Jam - Hypnotize
Between the kids, the housework, and staying up too late watching monster movies, the weekends are wearing me out faster than the work weeks. Best to just nod along i guess. And dig on that Herb Alpert bassline sample. Here's Notorious B.I.G. with "Hypnotize," our Daily Jam.

Gaspard Augé
And speaking of Justice, one half of the French duo, Gaspard Augé, is set to release his debut solo effort sometime this summer. Our first taste is the energetic "Force Majeure." The best Justice songs always managed to somehow combine disco, prog rock, pop, and electronica into one blast of sound, and "Force Majeure" does just that. Check it out below and download it here from Because Music.
Daily Jam - TThhEe PPaARRtTYY
Maybe it's because it's a little chilly outside today, or maybe it's because i just finished a little bit of yardwork, or maybe it's because "The Last Drive" returned last night, but i'm feeling a little festive today. So here's "TThhEe PPaARRtTYY" from French electronic duo Justice featuring Uffie on vocals, our Daily Jam.

Powers / Rolin Duo
From Columbus, Ohio, the Powers / Rolin Duo have created a mind expanding sound with their upcoming album "Strange Fortune." Part drone, part freeform jazz, part experimental psychedelia, our first taste of the record on the single "Drifts" feels like something that could play at the end of life, where everything comes together and all that has ever happened plays before our eyes until it all goes still. Check it out below and pre-order the LP here from Astral Editions.
Daily Jam - L.E.S. Artistes
It feels like we haven't heard anything from Santigold (nee Santogold) in a long time. It's possible that i'm just out of the loop, but i want that remedied. Here's "L.E.S. Artistes," our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - The Date
We all have our pop music hills we're ready to die on, and one of mine is that Scott Weiland's first solo album, "12 Bar Blues," is criminally underrated. Here's "The Date," our Daily Jam.
Flesh of Morning
On the heels of a couple of awesome singles, Austin darkwave synth pop duo Flesh of Morning are set to unleash their debut full-length album "Here in Heaven" in June. Check out the icy yet shimmering "Dream" below and pre-order the ablum here via A La Carte Records.

The Lost Days
I posted about The Lost Days, the duo of Tony Molina and Sarah Rose Janko, a few days back, and the band has now dropped a short and sweet EP with "Lost Demos." The lo-fi, dusty, and Byrds-ish sound continues on in all the right ways. Check out "Coward Exposed" below and order the cassette here from The Long Road Society.
Daily Jam - M.E.
I remember when i was young, lots radio deejays and MTV personalities tossing Gary Numan up as this forgotten one-hit wonder. And while that may be technically true, "Cars" being the only certifiable hit the artist ever had, his work in the late '70s and early '80s is really quite great. He also influenced bands like Nine Inch Nails and Failure to name a couple. Anyway, here's "M.E.," which maybe you know or maybe you recognize as the sample from a Basement Jaxx song. Check it out, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Car Fiction
There's a little bit of Blondie in the sound of '90s UK band Echobelly. I was there for it then and i'm here for it now. Check out "Car Fiction" below, our Daily Jam.
Massage
LA's Massage make a cool mix of jangle pop, shoegaze, and college rock that kind of sounds like if the Jesus and Mary Chain had come up in the Midwest instead of Scotland if that makes any sense. Check out "Half a Feeling" below and pre-order the band's "Still Life" LP here from Mt. St. Mtn., Tear Jerk, and Bobo Integral Records.
