I had never heard of Philly metal band Devil Master until yesterday, and i've gotta say, i feel like i've been missing out. The band's blend of thrash, black metal, and crusty punk feels like the kind of thing that would have made the rounds on dubbed cassette when i was a young teenager. The group totally plays into the act too, with corpse paint and absolutely wonderful stage names like Darkest Prince, Infernal Moonlight Apparition, Disembody Through Unparalleled Pleasure, and Festering Terror In Deepest Catacomb. And the VHS quality for the video on their latest single "Acid Black Mass" is some real chef's kiss gold. It rules.
