Probably more generally known for their more overt political music or their former guitarist's struggles and subsequent disappearance, UK band Manic Street Preachers' 1998 album "This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours" comes off as much more of a pop record than any of their previous work. That's not to say that there isn't a political sting or emotional heft to any of the songs, just that they're a little more sleek and polished up for the masses. And it hooked me from the second i heard it. Album opener "The Everlasting" is a melancholy lament about the state of all things, and sadly nothing has changed in the last 20 years.
