Earlier this year, Tim Hecker released the excellent and beautiful "Ravedeath, 1972," a collection of multi-layered ambient drone tracks that conjured up images of old family black and white photos and silent, stretching landscapes (at least for me it did). Now he's set to release the odds and ends that were essentially the backbone of the record. "Dropped Pianos" is due from Kranky this month, and is equally beautiful and haunting.
