When i was a kid growing up in small town suburban America, i remember how terrified so many of my friends' parents were of...well..everything. Pop culture, and particularly black culture, scared the shit out of them, like it was some perverse entity that was going to warp the minds and souls of their children. But the violence and bravado of all this gangsta rap was really just a reflection of the times. Is still a reflection of the times. And it's been on my mind a lot the last few days.
