A few weeks ago, i finished reading "A Curious Mix of People: The Underground Scene of '90s Austin" by Greg Beets and Richard Whymark. The book is all about the punk and indie rock scene of Austin during the '90s through interviews with musicians, club owners, promoters, zine publishers, record store employees, local journos, and more. Being that i arrived in Austin during the second half of this scene, it was quite wonderful to read up on artists and venues i discovered then along with a whole lot i had forgotten about. A real nostalgia bomb for Central Texas Gen-Xers. Since i finished the book, i've been revisiting and rediscovering many of there artists mentioned and interviewed therein. And i'm going to be posting several of them over the next few days/weeks. One of those bands is 7% Solution, a psych-tinged alt-rock group that lasted through the end of the decade.
