Desert Sessions 11 & 12
I love Josh Homme's Desert Sessions series, and it's been a very long time since we last had one. Yesterday, the artist dropped Volumes 11 and 12, this time around featuring another array collaborators like Billy Gibbons and Les Claypool. Check out the video for Vol. 12's "Crucifier" below and get the LP here from Matador.

Daily Jam - Dead in Love
I've always liked Queens of The Stone Age, but there's just something about Josh Homme's Desert Sessions that grabs me even more. Maybe it's the collaborative spirit of the whole thing, or the rawness and immediacy, as the tunes are generally written and recorded quickly in as few takes as possible. Whatever it is, they're great. So, let's listen to "Dead in Love" from Vol. 9, our Daily Jam...

Iggy Pop - Gardenia
So, Iggy Pop recorded a new album with Queens of The Stone Age front man Josh Homme...and if that didn't just pique your interest and make your day, then i don't want to know what's wrong with you. "Post Pop Depression" is due in March on Loma Vista, but you can listen to the grooving and driving first single "Gardenia" below. Classic Pop.

Sound City Players (Grohl, Homme, Reznor)
Dave Grohl's upcoming documentary, "Sound City: Real to Reel," about the now legendary studio where Nirvana's "Nevermind" was recorded (debuting at this year's SXSW!) features an all star cast on Grohl-curated soundtrack. Listen to "Mantra" below, featuring Grohl, Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), and Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails). I don't think i need to go into it any further, except to say that it's pretty damn good, and somehow manages to capture the essence of all three artists without having that "supergroup" feel to it.
