I missed this a few days ago (along with Gene Hackman...geez), but i do want to take a moment to acknowledge that we lost a musical icon in David Johansen. My first exposure to Johansen was probably as the Ghost of Christmas Past in "Scrooged," or may as alter-ego Buster Poindexter. But when i got to college and began investigating the sounds of the New York Dolls, he became so much more than that. The Dolls were one of those bands that influenced everyone who ever heard them and rock music from the last half century is all the better for it.
