TV Buddha

As per usual with this year's SXSW, garage rock bands abound.  And that's just perfect for fan of psych and reverb drenched nuggets like myself.  Hailing from Chicago, lo-fi duo TV Buddha bring the fuzz.  Check out their latest single "Baby, Woah! (Version)" below, download it here, and keep an eye and ear out for them if your in Austin this weekend.

Badger Hunt

Here's some very lo-fi and kind of twangy garage rock from New York based duo Badger Hunt.  The band dropped their "Full Moon in My Pocket" cassette last month and hitting Austin for SXSW over the next several days.  Check out the fuzz and hiss of "Heart's a Racecar" below and get the album here.

Joudy

I've been gradually compiling a small list of artists i'd like to check out over the next few days during SXSW, and even with this year's condensed time span, it's proving to be an enormous task.  I will say that this year, there are way more bands that i've never heard of before.  That's a good thing, and kind of what this whole event was all about back when it started in the '80s.  Here's a band from list, New York noisy garage rock band Joudy.  The band's "Permanent Maintenance" LP is out in May.  Pre-order it here from Trash Casual and listen to "Nail" below.

Jacuzzi Boys

I did not realize that Miami garage rock band Jacuzzi Boys were still making music, which is not that surprising i suppose as new album "Too Cold to Tango" is their first full length release in almost a decade.  Anyhoo, the boys still got it.  Dig on "Ozone" below and order the LP here.

Daily Jam - Around & Around

Sometimes, i believe that Japanese bands aping western style music genres actually sound more like the genre their emulating than the American or British bands that inspired them.  Kind of like how caricatured drawings look more like a person than they actually do.  Case in point is the psych pop-tinged garage rock sounds of '60s Japanese band The Spiders.  Check out the raucous "Around & Around" below for the proof in the proverbial pudding, our Daily Jam.

Black Lips

Fresh off of March's country stomp jammer "Satan (I'm Tired of You)," long running Atlanta garage rock band the Black Lips are back with another new tune with "Wild One."  The track combines western vibes with old spacey synth sounds and outlaw pastiche.  It kicks ass.  Check it out below and download it here from Fire Records.

Perennial

One of the best live acts i've seen for two SXSW's in a row now is New England garage rock band Perennial.  Pure, unbridled energy.  The band's new "Perennial '65" EP is out next month.  Check out the bouncy title track below and pre-order the album here from Ernest Jenning Record Co.

Delivery

It's looking like Australian punk band Delivery are going to be all over Austin next week, so maybe i'll get the chance to take in their garage rock sounds.  The band's new album "Force Majeure" dropped back in January.  Get it here from Heavenly Recordings and listen to "Focus, Right" below.
