Full confession...i'm not super versed in Black Sabbath. Sure, i'm familiar with all the obvious stuff, a few tracks from the first few albums, but i'm hardly a devotee. That being said, "Black Sabbath Vol. 4" kicks ass. I'm pretty sure i was drawn to it originally because of "Supernaut," but through the years, i think "Snowblind" may be the best track of the bunch. Boston band Kal Marks has a new album coming our way later this summer, and on "Ovation," the band are doing a kind of post-hardcore noise rock thing, albeit one with a damn catchy chorus. Check the track out below and download the "My Name Is Hell" from the band here in August.
Terrible news to wake up to this morning, as singer and artist Julee Cruise has passed away. Her dreamy and ghostly vocals provided a sonic tapestry for "Twin Peaks," and it's an aesthetic (and sometime anesthetic) i come back to over and over again. Listen to "The World Spins" below.
