Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith

Here's a sprawling new track from LA-based electronic artist Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith.  "I Miss the Way You Swim" channels soothing new age music, a soundtrack to meditation, yoga, or just staring into space.  Check it out below and download it here from Nettwerk.

Xiu Xiu

Long running experimental band Xiu Xiu have been making interesting music for years and years now, and in the mix of all that have been numerous cover versions of songs that the band really make their own.  January sees the release of new album "Xiu Mutha Fuckin' Xiu: Vol. 1," a collection of covers from the band spanning everyone from The Talking Heads to The Runaways.  Check out their absolutely gutting version of Daniel Johnston's "Some Things Last a Long Time" below and pre-order the LP here from Polyvinyl Records.

Daily Jam - See It? See It?

Here's some barely there lo-fi, experimental indie folk from Minneapolis band Fog.  Listen to "See It? See It?" below, our Daily Jam.

Marine Eyes

I don't want to jinx it, but it's kind of quiet morning today.  And a quiet morning deserves some appropriately tranquil music.  LA artist Marine Eyes just released her new album "Morning Will Come" last week, and it should do nicely.  Listen to the ethereal ambience of "Moonflower" below and download the album here.

Daily Jam - Hopelessly Devoted to You

Growing up with an older sister in the '80s meant that Olivia Newton-John and the soundtrack to "Grease" were unavoidable.  They're some of the first songs i remember listening to outside of what my parents would have been playing.  Here's a sappy love song from it.  Listen to "Hopelessly Devoted to You" below, our Daily Jam.

IDLES Remixed

Over the summer, Bristol post punk band IDLES released the soundtrack to Darren Aronofsky's "Caught Stealing."  Today, the group dropped some remixes from said soundtrack featuring mixes from artists like Yeah Yeah Yeahs member Nick Zinner and experimental noise makers Lip Critic.  Check out Interpol's mix of "Rabbit Run" below and download everything here from Partisan Records.

Daily Jam - Possum Kingdom

Were you a teenager in Texas in the mid '90s?  Chances are you or your friend had a copy of the Toadies' "Rubberneck."  The DFW band was a seminal part of my adolescence, their kinda creepy odes to obsession and death delivered with that evangelical twang setting them apart from the rest of that decade's alt-rock acts.  They even got national play with their single "Possum Kingdom," which is either about stalking and killing a girl or being a vampire.  It works either way.  Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

The Notwist

Long running German indie band The Notwist are set to release their new album in March.  Check out the poppy and frenetic "X-Ray" below and pre-order the upcoming "News from Planet Zombie" here from Morr Music.

Melody's Echo Chamber

Friday brings us new music from Melody's Echo Chamber.  The artist's fourth album, "Unclouded," comes with psychedelic pop aplenty, and album opener "The House that Doesn't Exist" channels the sounds of French pop to delightful effect.  Check it out below and pre-order the LP here from Domino.

Daily Jam - Play with Me

I heard Extreme's "Play with Me" the other day and had no idea it was an Extreme song.  To me, it had always been that song from the Mall scene in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure."  It's kind of silly, but it's fun.  Listen below, our Daily Jam.

Cloud Studies

Here's a wonderful new track from UK act Cloud Studies.  "Last Night I Fell Again" has pieces of dreampop, shoegaze, alt-rock, and just a little bit of jangle pop in a swirly, hazy four minutes.  Check it out below and download it here from Happy Robots.

Daily Jam - Televised

Let's finish the month off with some moody indie rock and post punk from New York band Calla.  From the group's 2003 album "Televise," listen to "Televised" below, our Daily Jam.

Haunted House Party

Haunted House Party has been making wonderful dusty, Halloween-themed, instrumental hip-hop for a number of years now, but more recently has been incorporating other holidays into the mix as well.  Dig on the new Christmas-themed track "Lump of Coal" below and snag the 7" here from the artist.

Daily Jam - Joey

Another Saturday cleaning the house, watching college football, and listening to music...and online Christmas shopping this time of year.  What's next in the rotation?  How about some Concrete Blonde.  Listen to "Joey" below, our Daily Jam.

Rude Films

Manchester post punk band Rude Films already dropped one of my favorite albums of the year with their self-titled effort back in March.  Now they're closing the year out with new single "Through the Light / Horseshoe."  Listen to the moody "Through the Light" below and download it here.

Friday Horror Trailer - Double Exposure

Daily Jam - Hard, Fast and Beautiful

Just finished eating a bunch of meat, cheese, and crackers, and now i'm about to put up some Christmas decorations.  And i'll be listening to plenty of music while doing so.  To start, here's a track from The Wedding Present's David Gedge and his pop side project Cinerama.  Check out "Hard, Fast and Beautiful" below, our Daily Jam.

All those new singles from Ladytron over the last couple of months were leading up to something.  March brings us a new album from the UK electro-pop group with the upcoming "Paradises."  Check out new tune "Kingdom Undersea" below and pre-order the LP here from Nettwerk.

The Lemon Twigs

Here's a new jangler from New York duo The Lemon Twigs.  The band has a wonderful way of fusing power pop, jangle, college rock, and psych pop into pure sunshine.  And that's all present on new single "I've Got a Broken Heart."  Check it out below and pre-order the 7" here from Captured Tracks.

Pulp Covers Cash

Fresh off of their first new album in over two decades, legendary Britpop act Pulp are back again, this time around covering a late track from The Man In Black.  Johnny Cash's "When the Man Comes Around" opened his final album before his death back in 2003.  And now we have a Pulp version.  Listen to it below and download it here from Rough Trade.

Daily Jam - The Guns of Brixton

I've gotta go and run a few pre-Thanksgiving errands today.  One of those errands is visiting a cheese monger, so it's not all bad.  Anyhoo, here's some music from The Clash to get me out the door.  Listen to "The Guns of Brixton" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - As Long as I've Got You

Here's some soul from The Charmels for your Monday morning.  Listen to "As Long as I've Got You" below.  Hip-hop appreciators will recognize the opening few seconds as sampled in Wu-Tang Clan's "C.R.E.A.M."  Check it out, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - They All Ask'd for You

I have vivid memories of listening to New Orleans funk and soul group The Meters' "They All Ask'd for You" in the car on road trips with my family when i was a little kid.  Hearing the song now immediately takes me back to that station wagon and the long trip between Midland, Texas and New Orleans.  Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Killjoy

I am starting a much needed week off of work today.  Hopefully a lot of you out there are able to take some time this week as well.  And if you're travelling, be careful out there.  In the meantime, here's The Czars with "Killjoy," our Daily Jam.

Converge

Long running Boston hardcore and metal band Converge are back next year with new album "Love Is Not Enough."  Dig on the thrash metal-tinged banger title track below and pre-order the LP here from Epitaph.

Yara Asmar

Beirut based experimental artist and puppeteer (that's a new one), Yara Asmar, originally recorded music for her various puppet film projects, strange and otherworldly pieces of drone, ambient, and classical minimalism serving as scores for the movies.  Sometime around the beginning of the pandemic, a friend convinced her to start releasing the work on its own, and so here we are with the artist's most recent release, "Everyone I Love Is Sleeping and I Love Them So Much."  The record feels equal parts experimental drone and folk horror, and plays as the perfect accompaniment to a grey and dreary fall day.  Check out "To Die on Any Hill (If It's Easy Enough to Climb)" below and download the album here from Hive Mind Records or here from Time Released Sound & Time Sensitive Materials (the vinyl is long gone).

Friday Horror Trailer - Kill, Baby...Kill!

Daily Jam - ...And Justice for All

The opening minute to Metallica's "...And Justice for All" often pops into my head, pretty much at any given moment.  I guess it's one of those little bits of music that wormed its way into my inner psyche and just permanently moved in.  And that's okay because it's awesome.  And so is the rest of the song.  Listen below, our Daily Jam.

Drugdealer & Weyes Blood

Throwback pop artist Drugdealer is back with a couple of new tunes this month, featuring his usual blend of AM soft rock and indie pop.  On "Real Thing," he reunites with former collaborator Weyes Blood for some soul-infused vibes.  Check it out below and download it, along with "The News," here from Mexican Summer.

Daily Jam - Silence Kid

I am crazy tired today.  Perhaps some Pavement can get me moving.  Listen to "Silence Kid" below, our Daily Jam.

The Saxophones

Oakland based husband and wife duo The Saxophones released their new album "No Time for Poetry" earlier this month, a mix of baroque pop, exotica, lounge, and noirish jazz.  The whole thing plays like some kind dark and strange film, black and white images in a smoky haze.  Check out the album opening "Too Big for California" below and get the LP here from Full Time Hobby.

Daily Jam - Save Me

I probably should have played this one during Cheese Week.  Here's Remy Zero with the theme to a WB show.  Listen to "Save Me" below, our Daily Jam.

Haylie Davis

Here's a nice, soothing slice of soft rock-tinged cosmic Americana from LA artist Haylie Davis.  "Country Boy" plays like some kind of AM radio daydream, have remembered bits of melancholy pop and nostalgia-tinted sounds.  Check it out below and download it here from Fire Records.

Daily Jam - Introit

Yesterday i posted about "3030" by Deltron 3030.  A month or so back, i discovered the track it samples, a beautiful piece of avant pop, neo-classical, jazz, psych, and so on from French musician and composer William Sheller.  Check out "Introit" below, our Daily Jam.

The Far Sound

The Far Sound is the project of Portland artist Rick Pedrosa.  New album "To Heart, To Earth" finds the artist traversing the sounds of ambient country music, psychedelic folk, and Americana that feels like watching clouds move over a vast plain.  Check out "Let Warmth Turn Inward" below and snag a copy of the LP here from Centripetal Force.

Dry Cleaning

London post punk band Dry Cleaning are kicking off 2026 with a new album.  Check out the strange and trippy "Hit My Head All Day" below and pre-order the "Secret Love" LP here from 4AD.

Daily Jam - 3030

It's absolutely insane to me that it's been 25 years since Del Tha Funkee Homosapien and Dan The Automator teamed up for some dystopian future hip-hop with Deltron 3030.  It was kind of a precursor to the first Gorillaz album.  Anyhoo, it's a fun listen.  Dig on the epic, album-opening "3030" below, our Daily Jam.

Silk Daisys

Atlanta duo Silk Daisys bring all the dreamy shoegaze sounds and vibes you can handle on their upcoming self-titled full-length.  Check out "Kiss Me Like You Mean It" below and pre-order the LP here from the band.

Daily Jam (Cheese Week) - We Built This City

Let's bring Cheese Week to a close with perhaps the cheesiest song ever made.  I totally get why so many people think Starship's "We Built This City" is crap.  I do.  Especially when you consider what the band had been back in the '60s and '70s.  The whole thing reeked of selling out.  But i was 6 when i heard it.  And i thought it ruled.  I don't have quite the enthusiasm for it i did back in 1st grade, but i'll let it ride if i hear on the radio.  Listen below, our Daily Jam.

Superchunk Covers The Magnetic Fields

Here's Superchunk covering a classic from The Magnetic Fields.  Listen to "I Don't Want to Get Over You" below and download it here from Merge.

Daily Jam (Cheese Week) - Wind of Change

I love the theory that the Scorpions' "Wind of Change" was actually a CIA psyop to help bring down the Soviet Union.  There are a lot of convincing arguments in favor of it.  And it's so weird and stupid and wonderful, i hope it is the case.  Anyway, let's listen to the cheesy classic below, our Daily Jam.

Tombstones in Their Eyes

Here's another new banger from LA band Tombstones in Their Eyes.  "Alive and Well" comes from the band's upcoming new album "Under Dark Skies" out in December.  Listen to the track below and download it here from the band.

Friday Horror Trailer - To the Devil a Daughter

Daily Jam (Cheese Week) - If She Would Have Been Faithful...

I unabashedly love '80s era Chicago, so i should probably just post their songs on the regular instead of during Cheese Week.  But i've already started listening to today's selection, and i'm not gonna stop.  So here's "If She Would Have Been Faithful...," our Daily Jam.

Armand Hammer & The Alchemist

New York rap duo Armand Hammer (Elucid and Billy Woods) have once again teamed up with producer and DJ The Alchemist for new album "Mercy."  Given the three artists involved, you know it's gonna be pretty stellar.  And it is.  Check out the album closing "Super Nintendo" below and grab the LP here from BackwoodzStudioz.

Daily Jam (Cheese Week) - Big Talk

I was an impressionable grade schooler during the height of hair metal's popularity, so i pretty much listened to the shit out of it.  And i was particularly fond of that first Warrant album which i borrowed (stole) from my older sister.  Here's a track from it about being tough, lol.  Listen to "Big Talk" below, our Daily Jam.
