Daily Jam - M.E.

I remember when i was young, lots radio deejays and MTV personalities tossing Gary Numan up as this forgotten one-hit wonder.  And while that may be technically true, "Cars" being the only certifiable hit the artist ever had, his work in the late '70s and early '80s is really quite great.  He also influenced bands like Nine Inch Nails and Failure to name a couple.  Anyway, here's "M.E.," which maybe you know or maybe you recognize as the sample from a Basement Jaxx song.  Check it out, our Daily Jam.

METZ cover Gary Numan

Apparently a few years ago, raucous Toronto noise rock trio METZ recorded a cover of Gary Numan's classic "M.E.," and for some reason i'm only just now hearing it.  Check it out below in all of its glory, and grab it and couple of other covers from the band here via Sub Pop.

Wand cover Gary Numan

LA rockers Wand are easily one of my favorite bands that i've discovered this year, their "Golem" LP a viable candidate for best record of the year.  And they've got another record slated for later this fall.  And, today i heard their excellent cover of Gary Numan's "M.E." on the B-side to their "Machine Man" 7".  It's fantastic, and one of my favorite Numan tunes to boot.  Listen below and get the record from In the Red.
