MGMT - In the Afternoon

Here's a new single from poppy alt-rock outfit MGMT called "In the Afternoon."  Check it out below and pre-order here.

MGMT - Little Dark Age

While i thoroughly enjoyed MGMT's debut album 10(!!!) years ago, i've never really kept up with them since, with the band only occasionally popping up on my radar when a new single emerges from the ether.  And so we have "Little Dark Age," the title track from the band's upcoming new album out sometime early next year.  I dig it.  It's a smooth and synthy, goth-tinged pop nugget that just embeds itself in your earspace.  Watch the video below.

And all good things must come to an end...which is good because i was out of money and my body was starting to reject the steady diet of Shiner beer and junk food.  Highlights of the day include reaffirmation that The Polyphonic Spree will always put me in a good mood, listening to the Mortal Kombat theme song whilst watching tacos being blasted out of a cannon, seeing the kids from Unlocking the Truth with their mom eating Twinkies, The Men, and Gojira.

The lowlight of the day was the sound issues that prevented Killer Mike from being able to perform, though he tried his damndest.

Until next year then.  Take a gander at some snapshots below.

MGMT - Alien Days

A number of excellent releases came out yesterday, many of which i never even saw anywhere, like the head-nodding new single from MGMT.  We haven't heard from these guys in a while (especially after the mixed reaction to their sophomore album), but i guess absence makes the heart grow fonder.  "Alien Days" is a trippy little psyche number, perfect for a sun blistered afternoon.  Listen below.
