The ever prolific US black metal shoegaze project Sadness has been releasing new music like crazy this month.  The latest is new album "I Want to Make Something as Beautiful as You," and it's a lovely mix of said black metal and shoegaze, along with post rock, ambient, and more.  Check out the dizzying and soaring new track "You're the Brightest Star" below and download the album here from the artist.

The one-man shoegaze and atmospheric black metal act known as Sadness has quite the prolific output.  The artist has a multitude of albums, singles, and splits to sift through full of sprawling and epic bursts of lo-fi noise, ambience, discordance, and bliss.  "2010 Flowers" from the artist's latest split release with A Rose Dying in The Rain, is something else.  Starting as a quiet and melancholy lament, acoustic guitar and vocals in an endless tunnel, the track eventually segues into a kind of emotional post rock anthem, a last will and testament.  I love it.  Check the track out below and get the "Daydream Flowers" split here for a dollar.

On Valentine's Day, experimental black metal/shoegaze artist Sadness released a split album with fellow purveyors of noise Unreqvited.  Each group provided a track for the split, both a booming and epic 20+ minutes each.  Check out both tracks below and get the record here from Prophecy Productions or here from Flowing Downward.

I swear it seems like we're getting new music from Sadness every single month.  What a time to be alive.  Anyway, the latest mix of lo-fi, shoegaze and dreampop tinged, post rock influenced, black metal is the 2-track "Motionless, Watching You" EP.  Check out the equally beautiful and cacophonous "Blue" below and download it all here.

We seem to get new music from enigmatic black metal artist Sadness every few months, and i for one am a big fan of that kind of prolific output, especially when it's as varied and expanding as it is.  "Rain Chamber" is the latest EP, and i don't really know how to describe it...lo-fi, experimental, atmospheric black metal?  That works, but it's still not quite right.  There's something simultaneously joyous and anguished about the whole thing that in parts almost sound like if The Polyphonic Spree were attempt a black metal album.  It's kind of amazing.  Listen to "A Capture and Pink Dream Moment Spike" below and download the whole EP here from the artist for a dollar.

Black metal artist Sadness just released a track on new split album "Agnosia," along with his likeminded peers in Voragine, An Ocean of Light, Last Man's Breath, The Depressick, and Urantia.  Yeah, that's right.  Six different artists made a split album together (don't you dare call it a compilation!)  Anyway, it's all really good.  Check out the Sadness track, "In a Memory," below and download the whole album here.

Illinois experimental black metal act Sadness released their latest effort, "I Want to Be There," back in April digitally, but the album gets its physical release at the end of the month.  A mix of ambient, droney atmospherics, shoegaze reverb, post rock grandiosity, and black metal din, the record is equal parts frenetic beast and soothing balm, a sound that's both epic and intimate.  Listen to "You Dance like the June Sky" below and order the record here from Flowing Downward.
