Dorthia Cottrell

Windhand singer Dorthia Cottrell just dropped her second solo album over the weekend and it's awash in dark and gothic folk and blues.  I will always be a fan of this kind of blackened Americana.  Check out "Family Annihilator" below and pick up the "Death Folk Country" LP here from Relapse Records.

Windhand

All right.  Looks like we've got some new tunes from Windhand headed our way in October.  Thanks for the heads up Shawn.  "Eternal Return" is sure to be another batch of stony, riffy goodness.  Listen to "Grey Garden" below and pre-order the record from Relapse here.

Windhand - Old Evil

February brings us new music from Virginia doom/stoner metal band Windhand, via a split 12" with Satan's Satyrs on Relapse.  Watch the video for the crunching, crushing "Old Evil" below, and pre-order here.

Windhand - Crypt Key

I can't believe i haven't written about the new upcoming album from Virginia doom metal band Windhand yet.  Bad Tommy.  Anyway, here's the video for "Crypt Key" from "Grief's Infernal Flower" due in September on Relapse.

Windhand

Virginia metal band Windhand are unleashing their second album "Soma" on the always dependable Relapse in September.  To me, the band sounds like Alice in Chains if they had followed their track marks into a a much doomier territory.  My 14 year old self would have dug the shit out of this, and i must admit, my 34 year old self will probably have "Woodbine" on repeat for a little while.  Listen to that jam below.

Major props to Shawn for this find.
