Plato III

Abilene, Texas is not the location i would pick that would be generating artists that fuse hip-hop, dreampop, and alt-rock into hazy grooves, but what do i know?  And so we have Plato III, the Abilene artist that does all that stuff i said above.  Here's new single "Give 'Em Hell," featuring Merk, MoneyM!ll$, Blase, and Mickey Matta.  Check it out and download it here from Polyvinyl.

Psymon Spine

Psymon Spine are a New York band that blend electro-pop and post punk into something immediately toe-tapping and danceable.  And now, to really lean into that danceable aspect, last year's "Charismatic Megafauna" LP is getting the remix treatment with the upcoming "Charismatic Mutations."  Check out the "Jumprope (Love Injection Euphoric Mix)" below and feel those bliss-filled rave vibes.  And pre-order the album here from Northern Spy.

Rew

Here's some fuzzy, lo-fi, shoegaze-tinged, bedroom alt-rock from Delaware artist Rew.  Check out the swirly, crunchy, noisy sounds of "You Can't Hate Me Anymore" below and order the "Quiet All the Time" cassette here from the artist.

Mad Honey

Getting a little Oklahoma shoegaze into my ears before heading into the office this morning.  Check out the absolutely lovely song "Odds" from Mad Honey.  The band's "Promo '22" cassette single is out now.  Get it here from Sunday Drive Records and listen to the track below.

Daily Jam - Ambulance

I remember being a little disappointed with Blur's 2003 album "Think Tank" when it first came out.  I guess it just had the misfortune of being preceded by the Britpop trilogy and then the one-two punch of the self-titled record and "13."  That's a lot to follow up.  Anyway, i've reevaluated it a few times in the last two decades, and while it never reaches the heights of those earlier albums, it's weird and it's messy and it's interesting and it's still better than like 90% of other stuff out there.  So here's it's opening track "Ambulance," our Daily Jam.

Monophonics

Oh man, the new single from San Francisco's Monophonics is fire.  "Warpaint" lays psych guitar in the middle of a funk and soul revival groove and it's positively transcendent.  Check it out below and pre-order the band's upcoming new album "Sage Motel" here from Colemine Records.

Lustmord & Zola Jesus

April brings us "The Others (Lustmord Deconstructed," a tribute album featuring a slew of interesting artists tackling the dark, sprawling, and heavy work of experimental artist Lustmord, the "[O T H E R]" LP in particular.  The record will include such diverse artists as Bohren & Der Club of Gore, Godflesh, Ulver, Spotlights, and more.  Check out Zola Jesus's offering, "Prime," below and download the album here from Pelagic Records.

Daily Jam - I'll Stay High

Dig.  Remember early/mid '90s alt-rock band Dig?  Well, here's some Dig.  Listen to "I'll Stay High" below, quite possibly the most 1993-sounding song ever recorded, and our Daily Jam.

Listening Center

Get focused with the analog electronics and library synths of New York's Listening Center.  "Memoire" plays like something that would score a studying montage in an '80s movie, and it rules.  Check it out below and pre-order the upcoming "Cybernetic Window" LP here from Temporary Tapes.

Daily Jam - We Go Our Own Way

Let's get a little bit trippy with the sounds of Prefuse 73.  Here's the spooky and exotic "We Go Our Own Way" featuring vocals from Blonde Redhead's Kazu Makino.  Check it out, our Daily Jam.
