Jim Jarmusch & Anika
Writer/director/musician Jim Jarmusch has a new movie heading our way in December with "Father Mother Sister Brother." For the film's soundtrack, the artist teamed with Berlin-based post punk artist Anika. Check out the tranquil, ambient Americana vibes of "Jetlag" from the score below and pre-order the LP here from Sacred Bones.

Anika
It's been over 10 years since we last go a full-length solo album from Berlin-base artist Anika. I was a total sucker for her Nico-esque vocal delivery layed atop the gloomy, noisy post punk on that first record, and while there is still certainly some Nico in her voice, new album "Change" finds her wading in more dubby, experimental pop sounds. Check out the excellent title track below and pre-order the upcoming record here from Sacred Bones.

Anika
Continuing to groove on her Nico sounds, Berlin artist Anika is back with new single "Finger Pies," via Sacred Bones and Invada. It's worth a spin. Check it out below and get it here.

Tricky featuring Anika
I never really got into Tricky back in the '90s, though i do remember finding his dark and hypnotic electronica and trip-hop to be something wholly otherworldly. That hasn't changed. And on his upcoming new EP "20,20," he pairs with the equally dark and enigmatic Anika for new song "Lonely Dancer." Check it out below and pre-order here from False Idols.

Exploded View - Raven Raven
September brings us a new album of warped post punk from the Mexico City based Exploded View, and the always hypnotic vocals of the Nico-channeling Anika. Things feel icier this time around on the "Obey" LP, to where you can practically see your breath while listening to "Raven Raven." Check it out below and pre-order here from Sacred Bones.

Exploded View
I was not expecting new music from Exploded View next month, but i'll gladly take it. The Anika fronted post punk group makes cold and eerie music to put the soul ill at ease. Listen to "Summer Came Early" below and get the EP of the same name from Sacred Bones.

Exploded View - Orlando
One of the artists i'm still bummed out that i missed back during SXSW (of which there are a few) is Exploded View, the dark, synthy project assembled of musicians from Berlin and Mexico City and fronted by Anika. Cold, propulsive atmospherics and Anika' ghostly, Nico-like vocal delivery makes the upcoming self-titled debut a must hear. Listen to "Orlando" below and get the record from Sacred Bones in August.

Exploded View
Exploded View is the new band featuring Anika on vocals. Her post-punk-Nico style is ever present on the dystopian sonic space that is "No More Parties in the Attic." Listen below and get the 7" of the same name on Sacred Bones.

Anika covers Nena
I first heard Bristol by way of Berlin artist Anika a few years ago, her mix of post-punk, dub, krautrock, and noise being the perfect sounds for a dark evening. Being a chanteuse of sorts for Portishead's Geoff Barrow, there's an almost Nico feel to everything she does...and that's a wonderful and delightful thing. She had kind of dropped off my radar, her last LP coming out in 2010, but here she resurfaces, covering Nena's "99 Red Balloons" of all things. Cool and detached, Anika's take on the song, featuring an assist from the Invada Allstars (whom i'm assuming is just Barrow), feels like the cold war revisited, tensions rising behind an invisible iron curtain. Listen below, download it here, and be on the lookout for music from Anika's new band, Exploded View.

Anika covers Chromatics
British/German chanteuse Anika continues forward on the New-York-post-punk-no-wave-as-fronted-by-Nico vibes she began on her self-titled 2011 album. April's self-titled EP features continued production from Portishead and Beak> alum Geoff Barrow and a funky little cover of Chromatics' "In The City." Listen below and keep an eye out for the record from Stones Throw.
