Matt Jencik & Midwife
Colorado-based artist Midwife keeps busy prolific with a seemingly constant string of releases both on her own and collaborative. The latest collaboration is with Matt Jencik of Don Caballero fame, and "Delete Key," our first taste of the upcoming "Never Die" LP, is a moody, droning dream. Check it out below and pre-order the album here from Relapse.

Midwife
Colorado-based minimalist artist Midwife dropped new tune "Signs" today, an unused track from last year's excellent "No Depression in Heaven" LP. Like so much of the rest of her output, it's moody, melancholy, haunting, and ultimately beautiful. Check it out below and download it here from The Flenser.

body / negative
My wife took the boys and their friends over to the Lego store and for the moment, my house is quiet. It's just me and the dog, and the gently sounds of LA artist Andy Schiaffino and their project body / negative. New album "everett" is out next month and features production from Midwife and mastering from Slowdive's Simon Scott. Pre-order the album here from Track Number Records and listen to the ambient piano tones of "Sleepy" below.

Midwife & Vyva Melinkolya
Madeline Johnston, AKA Midwife, has had a pretty productive year so far, releasing music with her side project Sister Grotto, collaborating with Allison Lorenzen on a Bush cover, and now releasing another collaboration, this time with her friend and fellow artist Angel Diaz, AKA Vyva Melinkolya. There's a kind of heavy metal meets dreampop vibe going on with new track "NMP," ghostly vocals laid atop a slowly chugging riff that feels like it's a thousand miles away. Check it out below and pre-order the upcoming "Orbweaving" album here from The Flenser.

Allison Lorenzen & Midwife Cover Bush
Allison Lorenzen is a Denver based artist whose sound is a lulling mix of shoegaze, dreampop, and slowcore alt-rock. Midwife is also a Denver based artist whose sound rides the same kind of vibes, but with some drone thrown in for good measure. Together, they cover Bush apparently. And i'll be damned if it isn't excellent. Check out the duo's take on "Glycerine" below and download it here.

Sister Grotto
New Mexico's Madeline Johnston makes music under the moniker of Midwife, but has just released an album with new project Sister Grotto. "Song for an Unborn Sun" is a mix of ambient drone and subdued riffs, part shoegaze, part Americana, part something else. Check out "Placeholder" below and get the album here from The Flenser.

Midwife
New Mexico by way of Denver artist Madeline Johnson was set to take her Midwife project on a number of tours last year until the pandemic upended all of that. So instead, she recorded a new album. Check out the wistful "Christina's World" below and pre-order the upcoming "Luminol" LP here from The Flenser.
