W. Cullen Hart & Andrew Rieger

Way back at the turn of the century (nothing to see here, just feeling old), fellow Elephant 6 members Will Cullen Hart (Olivia Tremor Control) and Andrew Rieger (Elf Power) were roommates and recorded a one-off EP called "Leap Through Poisoned Air" that's finally seeing the light of day some 25 years later.  It's a perfect combination of the two artists' lo-fi psychedelic pop sounds.  Pay tribute to the late, great Cullen Hart by listening to "Treasures in the Magic Hole" below and pre-order the upcoming 10" release here or here from Orange Twin Records.

The Olivia Tremor Control

I got up early yesterday to venture out to my local independent record shop to pick up some Record Store Day Black Friday releases.  One of the records was the soundtrack to "The Elephant 6 Recording Co." documentary, featuring two new tracks from '90s psych pop wunderkinds The Olivia Tremor Control.  But it's all bittersweet, since bandmember Will Cullen Hart passed away yesterday as well.  Feeling a lot of emotions right now, but the songs are pretty great.  Check out "Garden of Light" and "The Same Place" below and download both tracks here from Elephant 6.

RIP Will Cullen Hart

They're both gone now.  Saw the news this morning that Olivia Tremor Control member and Elephant 6 co-founder Will Cullen Hart passed away yesterday, joining his former bandmate Bill Doss who left us in 2012.  Upon hearing them for the first time when i was in college, Olivia Tremor Control quickly became a favorite of mine and made a huge impact on my own songwriting.  I'm incredibly sad right now, but at least we still have the music.  And fittingly, we just got two new songs from the band yesterday too.  Gonna give those a spin for awhile.  RIP Will Cullen Hart.

Daily Jam - Hideaway

The Olivia Tremor Control's "Black Foliage: Animation Music Vol. 1" is one of those albums i go back to again and again, going on now for almost 25 years.  It's the perfect blend of psychedelic pop and experimental weirdness.  Here's the sunshiny "Hideaway," our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Do You Know the Time?

I've been a huge fan of Olivia Tremor Control ever since first spinning their "Black Foliage" LP back when i was a college radio DJ, and i had no idea that they recorded an EP with Japanese pop artist Kahimi Karie in 2000 called "Once Upon a Time" until reading about it a month ago in Adam Clair's book about the Elephant 6, "Endless, Endless."  Naturally i sought it out.  And the backing music is undeniably them.  Listen to "Do You Know the Time?" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Hilltop Procession Momentum Gaining

My COVID symptoms the past few days have been all over the place.  I'll start feeling better in one regard only to have something else flare up.  It's weird.  I'm pretty good today, but i've got a kind of lightheadedness that i can't seem to shake.  And the whole family is going stir crazy.  Just gotta get through the woods.  Here's some Olivia Tremor Control to get us there.  Listen to "Hilltop Procession Momentum Gaining" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Symbols and Maps

Olivia Tremor Control were one of my favorite bands of the '90s, and i was certainly bummed when they broke up, but at least i had Circulatory System to pick and run with the ball for a little while.  Here's the melancholy, lo-fi sunshine psych pop of "Symbols and Maps" from the band's 2001 self-titled debut, our Daily Jam.

Circulatory System

Will Cullen Hart (Olivia Tremor Control) is set to release a new album with his Circulatory System project called "Mosaics within Mosaics."  Listen to the hazy, choppy sunshine psych pop jam "Stars and Molecules" below and look for the album at the end of June from Cloud Recordings.
