Thorn Wych

Here's some strange and haunting experimental folk from UK artist Thorn Wych.  The music on "Aesthesis" sounds ancient, like the musical accompaniment to some exotic ritual, passed down through the ages, old myths and foreign customs.  Check out the warped and yearning strings of "Longing Song" below and get the LP here from Tompkins Square.

Brigid Mae Power

Here's some Gothic Americana-tinged, topical folk from Portland by way of Ireland artist Brigid Mae Power.  Her new album "The Two Worlds" is layered in isolated arrangements and acoustic drone.  It's beautiful and powerful.  Listen to "Don't Shut Me Up (Politely)" below and get the record here from Tompkins Square.
