French Film

Austin post punk band French Film is one of the bands i meant to catch last month during SXSW but just didn't happen.  Bummer for me.  Anyhoo, the band are readying new album "Yours" for release on Austin record label The Nothing Song Records.  Pre-order the cassette here and listen to the excellent "Crude Charm" below.

Klaus Morlock

Back on my bullshit again with some new faux soundtrack music from Klaus Morlock.  "Fireside Spells" plays like the psychedelic score to some unearthed Eurosleaze B-movie full of witches, satanists, and lots and lots of sex.  Check out "Run Hide Die" below and get the LP here from the excellent Library of The Occult.

FINAL

Justin K Broadrick (Jesu, Godflesh, et al) just dropped some new ambient music under his FINAL moniker.  Download "Giving Up, One Day at a Time" here from Avalanche Recordings and listen to the sprawling, woozy title track below.

Daily Jam - Gone

Here's a gorgeous track from M83's 2003 sophomore album "Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts."  Listen to the breathtaking "Gone" below, our Daily Jam.

Aesop Rock

Guys, times are scary right now.  There is a plethora of nightmares out there that we all need to deal with.  But i want you to give yourself a four-minute break and listen to the new Aesop Rock track.  It's not going to fix anything, but we all need to take our brief moments of pleasure when we can.  Check out "Checkers" below and pre-order the upcoming "Black Hole Superette" album here from Rhymesayers Entertainment.

Panchiko

Panchiko is a UK band that was originally around back in the late '90s and early '00s and called it quits for the better part of two decades before the younger generation discovered them via social media and revived them, a la Duster.  The band has now been making music again for the last couple years, and their new album "Ginkgo" just dropped today.  The whole thing is quite good, a poppy mix of different alt-rock sounds and moods, and one of the highlights is "Shandy in the Graveyard," which features a verse by New York rapper Billy Woods.  Check it out below and order the LP here.

L'Eclair

Swiss electronic synth pop outfit L'Eclair make their Innovative Leisure debut with upcoming new album "Cloud Drifter" this summer.  Dig on the beats and synths of "ODESSOS" featuring Phoebe Coco and A Ghost Column below and pre-order the LP here.

Fotoform

Seattle's Fotoform make lush and hazy shoegaze pop, melancholy daydream nuggets for cloudy days.  The band's new album "Grief Is a Garden (Forever in Bloom)" drops later this month.  Pre-order it here and listen to the lovely and ethereal "Grief Is a Garden" below.

Daily Jam - Icare

A month ago, i took the day off from work for my birthday and went on a record store crawl around Austin, hitting up half a dozen different stores around town.  One of the records i came home with was a 7" from French psych-tinged pop rock band Labyrinthe.  Check out the very cool, organ-laden B-side "Icare" below, our Daily Jam.  Long live physical media!

Death in Vegas

It's been a long time since i've paid any attention to UK electronic artist Death in Vegas.  It was probably back in the late '90s with the weird music video for "Dirt."  Anyhoo, i'm really digging the couple of new tracks released on upcoming album "Death Mask."  Check out the pulsing and ominous "While My Machines Gently Weep" below and pre-order the LP here from Drone.

Daily Jam - Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken

Here's some lovely, wall-of-sound girl group throwback indie pop from Scottish group Camera Obscura.  It's been a long day, and will continue to be so for a while, so we deserve something sweet.  Listen to "Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken" below, our Daily Jam.

Semi Trucks

Turn things up with the energetic jangle pop of LA's Semi Trucks.  The band have that old school college rock radio sound down tight, all distorted guitars and sunny hummable melodies.  Check out "Lou and Edie" below and pre-order the upcoming "Georgia Overdrive" LP here from Post Present Medium.

April Magazine

San Francisco artist April Magazine provides the lo-fi and ethereal hiss and hum for us this gloomy Wednesday morning in Central Texas.  "As You Turn" is a dreamy little nugget of bedroom fuzz.  Check it out below and get the new "Falling Window" EP here from the artist.

Daily Jam - Dramamine

I was able to score an original pressing of Modest Mouse's 1996 album "This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About" the other day, so hooray me.  Here's the opening track, and i believe the first Modest Mouse song i ever heard.  Listen to "Dramamine" below, our Daily Jam.

Dan Meyer

Agriculture's Dan Meyer goes solo with new album "Kneeling," a collection of dusty, fuzzy, grungy indie rock tunes.  Listen to "Omen" below and download the album here from The Flenser.

Daily Jam - A Season in Hell

Here's a pretty and cinematic ambient track from Moby.  Listen to "A Season in Hell" below, our Daily Jam.
