Daily Jam - Blanche

In 1977, Tangerine Dream member Klaus Schulze recorded the soundtrack to a European porno film called "Body Love."  True to form, it's excellent.  Listen to the wistful and spacey "Blanche" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Else

In September i'm finally getting to knock Built To Spill off of the "need-to-see-live" list along with Pavement at Levitation here in Austin.  Stoked for that as the band's 1999 album "Keep It Like a Secret" is one of the seminal records of my college years.  Anyway, here's a track from the album.  Listen to "Else" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Several Tongues

For a hot second there in the late '00s, it seemed like every other indie rock band had the word "crystal" in their name.  One of those was California band Crystal Antlers.  Here's a track from their debut album.  Listen to "Several Tongues" below, our Daily Jam.

Jeanines

Sometimes the only thing that will scratch that aural itch is a little jangly college rock.  And so we have Massachusetts band Jeanines and their new album "How Long Can It Last."  Album opener "To Fail" hits all those right notes like something coming out of an Athens radio station in the '80s.  Check it out below and and get the LP here from Slumberland.

This one is kind of hard to process.  I always thought he would just live forever.  RIP to a heavy metal originator.  RIP to an absolutely gargantuan legend.  RIP Prince of Darkness.  RIP Ozzy Osbourne.

Over the last few years, California artist Castlebeat has perfected the sound of his particular blend of lo-fi bedroom pop, dreampop, shoegaze, jangly college rock, and so on.  New album "Revival" is out now on Spirit Goth Records and deserves your eardrums.  Listen to "Tonight" below and grab the cassette here.

The Moment of Nightfall

I first heard Japanese band The Moment of Nightfall late last year on their collaborative effort with Bay Area artist Tony Jay.  Yesterday, the band dropped their new album "Memories Disappear in Echoes" on Paisley Shirt Records.  The whole thing plays like a dream, elements of psych folk, bedroom pop, and some lo-fi electronic bits swirling in an ethereal haze.  Listen to "December Wind (Complete Version)" below and snag the cassette here.

Here's a 30-year old Mercury Rev song.  Listen to "Everlasting Arm" below, our Daily Jam.

Nine Inch Nails

Trent Reznor's primary musical focus has been on scoring films for the last 15 years, though he does occasionally resurface with new Nine Inch Nails music from time to time.  Now those two aspects combine on the upcoming soundtrack to "Tron: Ares."  Our first taste dropped this morning.  Listen to "As Alive as You Need Me to Be" below and pre-order the album, due in September, here.

Dream Division Reimagined

Last year, psychedelic artist Dream Division released the Giallo-inspired album "A Rose in the Garden of Winter," a funky and acid drenched faux soundtrack to an '70s Italian thriller that never existed.  This year, that album gets a reimagining from a slew of artists and The Library of the Occult Electronic Orchestra.  Contributors include artists like Ivan The Terrible, The Hologram People, Antoni Maiovvi, and more.  Check out the funky psych version of "Thorns" from Project Gemini below and pre-order the "Una Rosa nel Giardino d'Inverno: Il Ritorno" LP here from Library of The Occult.

Here's some lovely, airy, and spacey new ambient drone from a collaborative project between Mark Jenkin, Cornish Sound Unit, and Dion Star.  "I Saw the Face of God in the Jet Wash" sounds like staring into eternity.  Give it a listen below and grab the EP of same name here from Invada.

KILDREN

And now, as it is wont to happen around here, it's time for a little shoegaze from Japan.  Listen to the dreamy "Fluid" by KILDREN below and download it here.

Deftones

I probably should post the new one from Deftones, because it's quite good.  Admittedly, i'm not quite the fan of the band that i used to be.  Back in high school and college, they were mainstays in my listening habits, but time and getting older and changes and so on.  Anyway "My Mind Is a Mountain" reminds me why i was (and still am) a fan.  Watch the video for the track below and pre-order the upcoming "Private Music" LP here.

they are gutting a body of water

We're getting a new LP from Philly's experimental shoegaze group they are gutting a body of water with the upcoming "LOTTO."  Listen to the excellent and noisy new song "Trainers" below and pre-order the album here from ATO.

HAERTS

It's been a spell since we last heard from indie dreampop duo HAERTS, but they're still around and kicking, and a new record, "Laguna Road," should be heading our way in October.  For the time being, check out the melancholy new single "Woman on the Line" below.

Lebanon Hanover

I overlooked that we got new music from German darkwave synth pop duo Lebanon Hanover last week, but remedying that now.  Grab new album "Asylum Lullabies" here from from the band and listen to the warbly, industrial-tinged "Torture Rack" below.

Damien Jurado

Damien Jurado has been making music for a long, long time, and honestly i never paid much attention to him until earlier this year with the 2025 updated version of his "Motorcycle Madness" LP.  That one blew me away, so now i'm digging into his entire catalog both old and new.  And this month we've got new single "For Each Familiar Scene," a bit of indie rock seemingly tailor made for headphones.  Dig on the track below and get it here from Maraqopa Records.

Archie Sagers

Here's a little mellow indie pop from UK artist Archie Sagers.  Listen to the dreamy sounds of "Silver Lake" below and download the track here from Crafting Room Recordings.

Daily Jam - L.S.D.

Swinging into my busy season at work and thinking of the copious amount of drugs i would like to do because of it.  Here's some French psychedelia from Popera Cosmic to put me in that right headspace.  Listen to "L.S.D." below, our Daily Jam.

The Stargazer Lilies

August brings us new music from the now Florida-based Stargazer Lilies.  On "Ambient Light," the band makes a darkened, shoegaze-tinged style of alt-rock that sounds like something that would have inhabited my earspace at any moment over the last 30+ years.  Check the song out below and pre-order the upcoming "Love Pedals" LP here.

Lip Critic

New York band Lip Critic were probably one of the best live acts i saw way back at SXSW 2024, their often chaotic mix of noise rock, techno, rap, and other assorted mayhem absolutely knocking my brain around during their 30-minute set.  They followed that up with the excellent "Hex Dealer" LP, and now they've got a new single out to continue said brain-knocking.  Check out "Mirror Match" below and download it along with B-side "Second Life" here from Partisan Records.

Sexores

The excellent Mexico City-based dreamy synth pop group Sexores are releasing their new album "Sangre" next month.  First single "Nightbreed" really leans into the darkwave vibes, and i am here for it.  Dig on the new track below and pre-order the album here from the band.

Daily Jam - Someone Else's Ride

Before moving on to form chillwave project Neon Indian, Alan Palomo played with the Denton electro-pop band Ghosthustler.  Here's the very '80s sounding "Someone Else's Ride."  Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

She's Green

Minneapolis band She's Green already dropped one of the best shoegaze tracks of the year with February's "Graze," and now their following that one up with the equally excellent "Figurines."  Bravo.  Listen to the new song below and download it here.

Softcult

Last week, dreamy, grungey shoegaze duo Softcult dropped new track "Naive."  It's nice.  Take a listen below and download it here.
