Bird of Peace Orchestra
Bird of Peace Orchestra began as a kind of house band at a club in the UK. Their new self-titled album are mostly one-take recordings and in-room practice sessions, unedited and presented as is. And their kind of spectacular. Listen to the dreamy, ethereal "Ties" below, a track that feels like watching the night sky alone and lost in the woods, and get the cassette here.

Daily Jam - Finished Symphony (Soundtrack Edit)
Here's a pretty track from UK electronic collective Hybrid. I first heard "Finished Symphony (Soundtrack Edit)" on one of those Ministry of Sound electronic mixes that used to come out back in the day and really dug the cinematic nature of the whole thing. Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

I've still got a lot of work to do this afternoon, so gonna crack my fingers, get to work, and listen to some minimalist, experimental neo-classical world music from American composer and multi-instrumentalist Eyvind Kang. Pre-order it here from Kou Records and listen to "Riparian A" below.

Chat Pile & Hayden Pedigo
In musical pairings i wasn't expecting to hear today, Oklahoma City noise rock/black metal/screamo band Chat Pile have teamed up with Amarillo folk and country artist Hayden Pedigo for the upcoming new album "In the Earth Again." New tune "Radioactive Dreams" finds the artists exercising a more atmospheric sound of eerie, foreboding doom. It's very cool. Check it out below and pre-order the LP here from The Flenser.
Danny Brown
Detroit rapper Danny Brown has been at it for a long while now, and has new album "Stardust" heading our way in November. The title track is weird and frenetic and full on glitchy electro hip-hop. Check it out below and pre-order the LP here from Warp.
Daily Jam - Mr. Freedom Man
Here's some weird, underground private press rock n' roll from the early '80s. Chance Martin's "Mr. Freedom Man" sounds like a song out of time. Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Nation of Language
Brooklyn synth pop band Nation of Language dropped their new "Dance Called Memory" LP last week, and i am really digging on the single "I'm not Ready for the Change." It's hitting all those dreamy, dancey, bubblegum buttons in my brain. Check it out below and get the record here from Sub Pop.
Daily Jam - Walkin' with Jesus
When i was a sophomore in college, i lived next door to a guy who was a super fan of Spacemen 3 and all of the offshoot projects of its members (like Spiritualized, etc.). I was drinking a whiskey with him one night and he showed me his collection which included every release you could think of from the artists in all formats and editions, bootlegs and more. It was pretty damn impressive. I've been a super fan of many a band or artist in my day but have never come close to approaching as complete a collection as my neighbor had. So hats off brother. Speaking of Spacemen 3, here they are with "Walkin' with Jesus," our Daily Jam.

Earlier this month, the second volume of "Goths for Palestine" was released, featuring another 31 tracks curated by Suzi Sabotage from goth-tinged artists all over the world. The project benefits Anera, an organization that's been working to aid the people of Palestine since 1968. It's a good cause, and both volumes of music are worth your time and money. Get them here and listen to A Place to Bury Strangers' noisy contribution "Does It Grow in the Garden" below.

Ciśnienie
I cannot help but love when a band throws a slew of different genres together into a veritable stew, and not only makes it work, but makes it sound like the absolute coolest fucking thing you've heard. And so we have experimental Polish band Ciśnienie and their fusion of jazz, post punk, and post rock. Check out the epic, ominous, and excellently titled "My childhood was a period of waiting for the moment when i could send everyone and everything connected with it to hell" below and get the "[angry noises]" EP here.
Daily Jam - Oceans and Continents
Years before becoming a part of the cultural lexicon with the "Miami Vice" theme, electronic composer Jan Hammer was making far out synth weirdness for the proverbial masses. Here's a track from his 1975 concept album "The First Seven Days." Listen to "Oceans and Continents" below, our Daily Jam.

Grass
Grass was a very short lived '00s psych folk supergroup of sorts, featuring members of Espers, Vetiver, and Brightblack Morning Light. They recorded some tracks in 2006 that never saw the light of day...until now. Almost two decades later, and the band's self-titled debut is ready for the masses this fall from Spiritual Pajamas. Take a trip back to the indie-aughts with "Summer in the Wasteland" below and pre-order the LP here.
Daily Jam - I Am a Scientist

Woods
Here's a lovely new track from Woods. Listen to "Goodnight" below and download "Goodnight b/w It Ain't Easy" here from Woodsist.
AVTT/PTTN (The Avett Brothers & Mike Patton)
Of all the collaborative music projects out there, i never in a million years would have paired indie folk country band The Avett Brothers with Mike Patton of all people. Well, it happened, and the end product is the upcoming self-titled record from AVTT/PTTN. First taste "Eternal Love" sounds much more in the wheelhouse of The Avett Brothers, but Patton's voice and presence make things feel a little off-kilter and strange. I really want to hear what the rest of this thing sounds like. Anyway, check out "Eternal Love" below and pre-order the album here from Ipecac.
Daily Jam - El Picador
Dig on a little mariachi-flavored, spaghetti western-tinged music from Calexico. Check out "El Picador" below, our Daily Jam.

Gorillaz & Sparks
Gorillaz has announced new album "The Mountain" for release in March of next year. The Damon Albarn/Jamie Hewlett project has been chugging along for almost 25 years now, and the upcoming album features guest appearances from IDLES, Johnny Marr, Yasiin Bey, and more, as well as posthumous appearances from Mark E. Smith, Bobby Womack, Tony Allen and more. And to top it all off, first single "The Happy Dictator" features an assist from none other than Sparks. Check that excellent track out below and pre-order the record here.
Daily Jam - Danny Says
Here's a track from the Ramones' Phil Spector produced "End of the Century" LP. It seems the recording of the album was kind of a nightmare for the band since Spector was a certified crazy person, but it's one of my favs from them. Listen to "Danny Says" below, our Daily Jam.

The Telephone Numbers
San Francisco band The Telephone Numbers make a lovely mix of jangle pop, psych pop, and college radio rock, little throwback indie earworms for young and old. The group's new album "Scarecrow II" is out next month. Pre-order it here from Slumberland Records and listen to "Battle of Blythe Road" below.
The Cosmic Tones Research Trio
Here's some pretty wonderful new spiritual jazz from The Cosmic Tones Research Trio. "Spirit of Truth" feels as equally indebted to new age and classical compositions as it does to jazz music, and i can already tell i'm going to be coming back to this one all day. Check it out below and pre-order the band's upcoming new, self-titled album here from Mississippi Records.
Daily Jam - Fooled Around and Fell in Love
My boys are getting older now and finding their own music that they're into, but when they were little, James Gunn and "The Guardians of the Galaxy" had a large hand in dictating their tastes, my boys getting into a bunch of '70s songs that came out before i was even born. To be fair though, i got into some of them too, like Elvin Bishop's "Fooled Around and Fell in Love." Listen below, our Daily Jam.
