DJ Shadow

I forgot that DJ Shadow dropped new album "Action Adventure" last week.  I just love the pulpy album cover art, and the producer's still got the goods.  Check out "Witches Vs. Warlocks" below and download the album here.  The record's sold out on the artist's Bandcamp page, but you should be able to procure a copy at finer record stores everywhere.

DJ Shadow and Run the Jewels

It's been a while since we last heard from DJ Shadow, i had all but forgotten about him, but with the impending release of new album "The Mountain Will Fall," and the collaboration with Run the Jewels on first single "Nobody Speak," he seems to be insuring i don't forget again.  "Nobody Speak" is all blaring horns, jazzy beats, and synth blips with El-P and Killer Mike just slaying the verses.  Listen below and get the record in June on Mass Appeal.

Rubble Kings

"Rubble Kings" is a documentary film from 2010 by Shan Nicholson about the street gangs of New York City during the 1970's, basically what was the inspiration for "The Warriors."  I have yet to see the movie, but the recently released "Rubble Kings" album, a collection of songs inspired by it and produced by Little Shalimar is fantastic.  A mix of 70's funk and soul, and featuring rap verses from the likes of Run the Jewels, Bun B, and more, this record is a monster.  Currently, you can download the whole thing for free from Adult Swim and get the vinyl from Mass Appeal.  Below, listen to "Savage Habits" featuring Bun B, Killer Mike, and Cuz Lightyear, and then check out the grooving instrumental "Edge of the Edge."

Run the Jewels and Zack de la Rocha

Run the Jewels team up with former Rage Against the Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha for new jam "Close your Eyes (and Count to Fuck)" from the upcoming "Run the Jewels 2."  That's right.  Killer Mike, El-P, and Zack de la Rocha are all on a track together.  And it kills.  Take a listen below and get the album later this month from Mass Appeal.

Run The Jewels

The ridiculously good Run The Jewels, the hip-hop duo comprised of El-P and Killer Mike have a new album on the horizon, the aptly titled "RTJ2" which will be available as a free download as well as other physical formats in October on Mass Appeal.  Listen to the blistering back and forth assault of "Blockbuster Night Part 1" below and get adequately pumped.  This album is going to be a monster.
