Last week Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds released a new album called "Ghosteen," premiering it on YouTube in full.  I haven't had the chance to sit and listen in full yet, but from the songs i've listened to so far, this one's going to weigh heavy on the heart.  Stream the entire thing below and pre-order the LP here.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Jesus Alone

Just in case you were thinking that "Skeleton Tree," the upcoming new album from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and the accompanying film "One More Time with Feeling," both out next Friday, were not going to be heavy, devastating affairs, here's our first taste of visuals and music, a live recording of the album track "Jesus Alone."  The song is haunting and somber, and the darkly lit, black and white images from the studio session adds a kind of aching despair to the whole thing.  And it should do just that, the first new art from a man who suffered an unbearable tragedy last year.  Watch and listen below.

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - Skeleton Tree

Any kind of release from Nick Cave is always an event in and of itself, but the upcoming new album from The Bad Seeds, September's "Skeleton Tree," has an accompanying film called "One More Time with Feeling" that will be released the night before the album, and will be the first place you can hear the new songs.  This will be the first new music from Cave since losing his son last year, and i feel that the record may be an emotionally tough listen, for my ears anyway.  Watch the trailer for the movie/record below and pre-order the album here.

The Callas

Oh, end-of-year-best-of lists, how you cascade me with heaps and heaps of music i somehow managed to miss out on earlier in the year.  Such is the case with Greek art-rock band The Callas.  The foursome's "Am I Vertical?" LP was produced by Bad Seeds/Grinderman member Jim Sclavunos, and the record is full of angular, cutting avant garde rock tunes.  They sound like some alternate dimension version of The Fall, and we, as a planet, need more bands that garner comparisons to The Fall.  Get the album from Inner Ear and watch the video for "East Beat" below.

FIDLAR covers Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds

While i have no idea what the image above is supposed to mean, the foul mouthed, beer swilling kids of FIDLAR have recorded a nice, stomping version of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds' creepy murder song "Red Right Hand."  It works nicely.  Listen below, and check out the band's tumbler page.

In case you hadn't heard, there's a new Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds record coming out next week.  "Push the Sky Away" seems to find them in a more mellow and contemplative state...and that suits me just fine, as a new Nick Cave album is always something to be stoked for.  Watch the video for "Jubilee Street" below (uncensored), and here's to hoping i can sneak into the band's SXSW performance in three weeks.
