White Denim

I rode pretty hard for Austin's White Denim about a decade back, but for some reason they've dropped off my radar the last few years.  But now they're back with new single "Crystal Bullets," a cool track that pulls from funk and soul and rock n' roll.  And there's sax.  And i'm always a sucker for sax.  Check it out below and get the upcoming "Crystal Bullets / King Tears" 12" single here from the band.

Bop English at Untapped Austin

I got to go out to the Untapped Festival here in Austin yesterday for some music and a whole lot of beer.  I wish i could say i remembered everything...but there was a whole lot of beer.  The set from Bop English was pretty damn good though, reminding me i need to pick up their debut album.  Here are a couple of pics below.

Bop English

Bop English is the solo side project of White Denim's James Petralli, a project that finds the artist tinkering with all manner of sounds and genres to craft something unique and infinitely toe-tapping.  Take a listen to the bar-rock/new-wave/psych-candy pop of "Dani's Blues (It Was Beyond Our Control)" from the forthcoming "Constant Bop" LP below, and grab the record in April from Downtown.

Leon Bridges

Here's some awesome throwback soul music for a lazy Sunday afternoon.  Leon Bridges hails from Fort Worth and sounds like a man out of time...and he's pretty damn amazing.  Take a listen to and download "Coming Home" below, produced by Austin Jenkins and Josh Block from White Denim.  So looking forward to more music from this guy in the future.
