The International Disassociation

Back in 2023, Denver based artist Aaron Dooley released an album called "The International Disassociation of: Aaron Dooley."  The band he assembled to tour that album ended up enjoying their time together so much, that the whole group just became The International Disassociation, and they play a cool and heady mix of psych, prog, and jazz.  Check out latest single "Later Days" below and download it here.

The Grebes

New York's Frankie Rose has been on the indie beat for a long time now (with Vivian Girls, Dum Dum Girls, and many more, as well as here solo output), and she has a new album heading our way in September with the decidedly synth pop-tinged opus "HILA."  Dig on the gothy, darkwave vibes of "Manifest" below and pre-order the LP here from Born Losers Records.

Medicine

I probably heard LA alt-rock/shoegaze band Medicine for the first time on "The Crow" soundtrack way, way back in 1994.  And though the lineup has evolved, the band has continued making music all these years.  August sees the release of "We'll Run Away," a collection of material originally released digitally by the band's Brad Laner, but getting a proper vinyl pressing this time around.  The album's opening track, "Keep an Eye on Summer," has me sold.  An instant, dreamy summer jam that feels old and new at the same time.  This one's going to be on repeat here for awhile as the season rolls on.  Check it out below and pre-order the LP here from Painted Air.

Donor Lens

Andy Bell & Masal

Ride's Andy Bell has been a busy man over the last few years, releasing a slew of solo projects and collaborations.  The latest is is the upcoming "Common Primitives" LP with the UK based duo Masal.  The work is a mix of dreamy electro-folk sounds and Eastern textures.  Check out "The Morning of the Trip" below and pre-order the record here from Sonic Cathedral.

New Orleans band Twisted Teens released their new "Florida Water Blues" LP a couple of weeks back, an amusing mix of punk, country, psych, and soul that feels like the house music for some party in the middle of the woods.  Check out the title track below and grab the record here from cpnpc.

The Odyssey Cult

Here's some loud and fuzzy new psychedelic rock from California band The Odyssey Cult, whose name has nothing to do with Christopher Nolan's recently released cinematic adaptation nor the psychotic right wing reaction to it.  Check out the spacey and frenetic "The Yeti's Eyes" below and pre-order the forthcoming "Vol. 3" LP here from Silver Current Records.

Chelsea Wolfe

Nirosta Steel

Nirosta Steel is the songwriting moniker of Steven Hall, who collaborated with cellist and composer Arthur Russell in the underground, and often queer, New York scene of the '80s.  "My Skyscraper" marks his first official long player, featuring works and re-works of material spanning over 40 years, a collection of "queer love songs, nightlife hallucinations, and post-rave comedowns."  It's a very cool mix of dubby electronica, down-tempo disco, lo-fi experiments, bedroom pop, and general weirdness.  It rules.  Check out the ode to an ex-boyfriend, "Boss Trix (Benny's Song)," below and order the LP here from Ulyssa.

Vanishing Twin

Carmen Villain

"Memoria," the upcoming new album from Oslo based experimental artist Carmen Villain has a picture of a bunch of snails in a glass for its album cover art.  And that seems very appropriate given the practically oozing minimalist electronic vibes of "Entre Nosotros."  Listen to the track below and pre-order the album here from Smalltown Supersound.

SPC ECO

Electronic and shoegaze-tinged duo SPC ECO, the project of Curve's Dean Garcia and daughter Rose Berlin release new music with a frequency you can set your watch to.  Their latest is new album "Phased."  Check out the dark alt-rock of album opener "Up All Night" below and download the whole thing here from the band.

Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein

Scottish indie pop group Belle & Sebastian are very decidedly not drug music.  However, i have a distinct, yet chemically hazy, memory in college of listening to the band's "Sleep the Clock Around" from their 1998 album "The Boy with the Arab Strap," and finding it utterly transcendent for the state that i was in.  (That last part was a pun for all you B&S Heads out there.)  Listen to it below, our Daily Jam.
