Haylie Davis
Gonna finish the day soon and go out to dinner with the family to celebrate my oldest son's birthday. He is now a teenager. Where did all the time go? Here's some appropriately wistful throwback pop music from LA singer/songwriter Haylie Davis to listen to while i ponder the passage of time. Pre-order the upcoming "Wandering Star" LP here from Fire Records and listen to lovely title track below.
Karl Hector & The Malcouns
Things get a little far out on "Yolek," the latest album from German band Karl Hector & The Malcouns. Dig on the Eastern funk and psychedelia of "Go Caravan!" below and get the LP here from Now-Again Records.

MJ Guider
Somehow i missed that New Orleans artist MJ Guider dropped a couple of new songs back in March. Good ones too. Anyway, it looks like the vinyl is all gone, but you can still download the "Another Weird Dream" single here from the artist. It's got kind of a sludgy Bowery Electric thing going on. Check out the A-side track "Another" below.
Daily Jam - J.A.R. (Jason Andrew Relva)
Anybody remember that movie "Angus" from the '90s? That one about the nerdy kid self-conscious about his weight. George C. Scott plays the grandpa. James Van Der Beek (pre-Dawson) plays an asshole. Anyone? Anyway, the soundtrack had a bunch of '90s alt-rock on it, like this one from Green Day. Listen to "J.A.R. (Jason Andrew Relva)" below, our Daily Jam.

Darryl Jenifer
Dig on some chilled out an laid back new jazz from Bad Brains bassist Darryl Jenifer. "The Weather Channel" features a bevy of other artists like jazz pianist John Medeski. Listen to "Sacred Love II" below and pre-order the LP here from Org Music.

Daily Jam - Omoide no Screen
If all has gone according to plan, i've spent the long weekend with my family meeting some horror icons, riding some rides, eating good food, and drinking some good beer. Let's close it all out with some mellow sounds of the '70s from Japanese artist Yasuko Kawashima. Listen to "Omoide no Screen" below, our Daily Jam.

Salem
Michigan witch house band Salem surprise dropped a new 31-track album earlier this week in conjunction with some sort of fashion collab they're doing. I don't really know anything about the fashion thing, nor do i care to really look into it, but the music is what we've all come to expect from the project. "Red Dragon" consists of some old detritus that has been floating around online in various forms for the last 20 years, along with some new tunes. Spooky, hazy, trippy stuff. No word on any kind of physical release, but you can stream the whole thing here on the band's YouTube page. In the meanwhile, listen to the title track below.
Street Sects
Here's some noisy new music from Austin industrial band Street Sects. Check out "No Percentage in Caution" below and pre-order the 7" here from Portrayal of Guilt (the label, not the band...which through no coincidence is owned by the band).
Daily Jam - I Must Increase My Bust
We try to keep things classy around here, so here's Lords of Acid with "I Must Increase My Bust" to close out the work week. Listen below, our Daily Jam.

Xiu Xiu
A few years ago, long-running experimental band Xiu Xiu paid tribute to David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti by covering the music from "Twin Peaks." This July, they give a nod to Lynch once again with "Eraserhead Xiu Xiu," a new live concert with an accompanying film and album. Listen to their surreal take on Peter Ivers' "In Heaven" below and pre-order the LP here from Polyvinyl Records.
Bleached Cross
Here's some new darkwave post punk from Chicago band Bleached Cross. The band's new "Wrath" LP is out in July. Pre-order it here from New Morality Zine and listen to "Crucible" below.
MIRAR
I don't know too much about French metal band MIRAR, but their mix of prog, industrial, death metal, and more is pretty goddamn awesome. New album "Gradus ad Parnassum" dropped a few days ago. Download it here from the band and listen to the spooky and operatic album opener "Stjernebro" below.

Daily Jam - A Daisy Chain 4 Satan (Acid and Flowers Mix)
Last month saw the vinyl release of a bunch of Wax Trax era My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult remixes on Record Store Day. We'll just say it put me in a mood, and i've been listening to the band a lot since. Here's a track from 1990's "Confessions of a Knife..." Listen to "A Daisy Chain 4 Satan (Acid and Flowers Mix)" below, our Daily Jam.

Cigarettes After Sex
Here's a dreamy and moody new track from LA's Cigarettes After Sex. Listen to "Twizzler" below and download the song here from Partisan Records.
Daily Jam - One More Try
I have a soft spot for the music of George Michael. Probably because i grew up with it, the sounds of those first two solo albums in particular being so prevalent in the pop culture of the late '80s and early '90s. Here's a ballad from "Faith" for this Wednesday morning. Listen to "One More Try" below, our Daily Jam.

John Carpenter
August brings us new music from John Carpenter with the forthcoming release of "Cathedral." And not just that, the album serves as a soundtrack of sorts to a new graphic novel of same name, based on a dream Carpenter had in 2024. It's probably the closest thing we'll get to a new John Carpenter movie, so consider us stoked. Check out "Lord of the Underground" below and pre-order here from Sacred Bones.
Daily Jam - The Shadow of Your Smile
My busy season at work typically doesn't begin until about the middle of July, but i am absolutely slammed today. And it looks like it's going to carry on into next week. Ugh. But for now, i'm going to take a couple of minutes and listen to the soothing, gentle bossa nova sounds of Brazilian-born, Japan-based artist Sonia Rosa. From her 1970 album "Sensitive Sound of Sonia Rosa," listen to "The Shadow of Your Smile" below, our Daily Jam.

I need to get some work done, so i leave you today with some hazy, dubby beats from Miracle House and his upcoming self-titled EP. Listen to "Sharp Huron Wind Dub" below and pre-order the download here from Primordial Void.
Avenue & Grubby Pawz
Here's some cool and chill new hip-hop from Boston rapper Avenue and producer Grubby Pawz. New album "Fortune Favors Risk" is out now. Get it here quick from Daupe Records, as the label's vinyl releases tend to sell out within hours, and check out "9 Ways" featuring Hil Holla and Caliph below.

The last weekend of May brings the Austin Record Convention back to town, and i've been amassing an ever-expanding list of records to look for, like Japanese folk and avant pop artist Yoshiko Sai's 1975 debut. Let's check out a track from it. Listen to "Yoru No Sei" below, our Daily Jam.

Brian Ennals & Blockhead
Switching gears a little bit with some new collaborative hip-hop from Baltimore rapper Brian Ennals and New York producer Blockhead. The duo's full-length "Boat Shoes" LP is out in July on Phantom Limb. Pre-order it here and listen to "Aldente" below.
Daily Jam - Thuja Magus Imperium
Although i am a fan of their vast catalog, i think Wolves in the Throne Room's magnum opus is probably 2011's "Celestial Lineage." Here's the album opener, "Thuja Magus Imperium," for consideration. Listen below, our Daily Jam.

Allah-Las
LA band Allah-Las just dropped a lovely new instrumental single today with the dreamy and summery "Ultramarine." Dig on it below and pre-order the 7" (with mystery B-side) here from Mexican Summer.
Strip Joint
Here's some very cool indie rock from Japanese band Strip Joint. New tune "Mirage (Stranger's Dream)" pulls from American alt-rock and indie folk, along with elements of jazz, post rock, prog, and Japanese pop. It's quite something. Check it out below and pre-order the band's upcoming "Prayers in Spiral" LP here from KiliKiliVilla.
Daily Jam - Sex Type Thing
And now for a classic from my early teenage years. You can practically taste the confusion and angst. Listen to Stone Temple Pilots and "Sex Type Thing" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Sad Sad City
I wonder whatever happened to Austin duo Ghostland Observatory. Checking on Discogs, and the band released an album back in 2018, but i don't think it was to too much fanfare. It's kind of wild too, because 20 years ago, these guys were the hottest shit in town. Anyway, here's a funky electro-pop track from 2006. Listen to "Sad Sad City" below, our Daily Jam.

The Young Sinclairs
Put a little jangle and reverb into your step this morning with some new music from Virginia band The Young Sinclairs. The group's new album "Cycles Turning" is out now. Download it here from the band and listen to the psych pop-tinged title track below.
Daily Jam - You Better Stay Alive
Good morning. Dig on some cold war vibes from '80s Slovenian band Demolition Group. "You Better Stay Alive" is a minimal and lo-fi darkwave dream, icy synths from the other side of the Iron Curtain. Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Golden
The whole "KPop Demon Hunters" thing is not my bag. Not even slightly. It's not my boys' thing either. My wife, on the other hand, absolutely loves it. All that being said, if i happen to hear "Golden" from the movie's protagonist K-pop trio Huntr/x, it will be in my head for days and days and days. And now it can be in yours too. Listen below, our Daily Jam.
