Teenage Fanclub

There is some alternate universe somewhere where Teenage Fanclub's 1991 album "Bandwagonesque" is the cultural fulcrum point for pop music that Nirvana's "Nevermind" ended up being in our own.  No complaints on Nirvana, but it's probably pretty cool in that Teenage Fanclub universe.  Anyway, the Scottish band have a new album heading our way in October with "Do Not Dare to Dream."  Check out the catchy and jangly "Day in the Sun" below and pre-order the LP here from Merge.

Real Numbers

Minneapolis band Real Numbers make sweet and wistful jangle pop jams for lazy afternoons and summer daydreams.  New album "Was It Always This Way" is due in August on Slumberland Records.  Pre-order the LP here and listen to the lovely "Never Never Again" below.

DUM1

Feel the lo-fi jangle of "On a Dime," the upcoming new album from Oakland band DUM1.  "Plastic Covers" plays like friends hanging out in a garage, making music together.  Listen below and pre-order the cassette here from Take a Turn.

The Young Sinclairs

Put a little jangle and reverb into your step this morning with some new music from Virginia band The Young Sinclairs.  The group's new album "Cycles Turning" is out now.  Download it here from the band and listen to the psych pop-tinged title track below.

Prism Shores

Here's some fuzzy, jangly indie rock from Montreal band Prism Shores.  The group just released their new "Softest Attack" LP earlier this month, and it's chock full of fun little nuggets.  Check out album opener "Kids Gloves" below and snag a copy of the LP here from Meritorio Records.

The Laughing Chimes

Before Ohio band The Laughing Chimes released last year's fantastic "Whispers in the Speech Machine" LP, they were working on something a little lighter and janglier than that album turned out being.  That work is seeing the light of day next month with the impending release of "Behind Your Blue Fields," a collection of songs and demos that just didn't fit the first time around.  Check out the wonderfully poppy title track below and pre-order the cassette here from Slumberland.

Uni Boys

LA band Uni Boys do a catchy power pop and punk kind of thing that's infectious and sticks to your eardrums like bubblegum.  Check out "You're So (Phisticated)" below and grab the new self-titled album here from Curation Records.

Mod Lang

It's power pop time!  Here's a wonderfully catchy track from Detroit band Mod Land from last month's "Borrowed Time" LP.  Listen to "What I Can't Have" below and snag a copy of the album here from Just Add Water Records.

The Hanging Stars

London's The Hanging Stars have a classic jangle pop thing going on for them, interspersed with some additional elements of Americana and psych pop.  Good stuff.  Check out the sing-songy, bubblegummy "The Glasshouse" below and pre-order the band's upcoming new album "Just a Day" here from Loose.

Mythical Motors

Widowspeak

Good Flying Birds

One of the bands i plan on catching during the next few days at SXSW is Indianapolis group Good Flying Birds.  They've got a jangle pop/college rock/garage thing going for them.  Check out "Eric's Eyes" below and grab last October's "Talulah's Tape" here from Carpark Records.

Touch Girl Apple Blossom

The Lemon Twigs

Here's a new jangler from New York duo The Lemon Twigs.  The band has a wonderful way of fusing power pop, jangle, college rock, and psych pop into pure sunshine.  And that's all present on new single "I've Got a Broken Heart."  Check it out below and pre-order the 7" here from Captured Tracks.

The Telephone Numbers

San Francisco band The Telephone Numbers make a lovely mix of jangle pop, psych pop, and college radio rock, little throwback indie earworms for young and old.  The group's new album "Scarecrow II" is out next month.  Pre-order it here from Slumberland Records and listen to "Battle of Blythe Road" below.

Massage

LA band Massage are set to drop their new album "Coaster" in October.  Dig on "Daffy Duck" below, an absolutely glorious mix of jangle and synth pop that makes me smile.  And pre-order the LP here from Mt. St. Mtn.

Jeanines

Sometimes the only thing that will scratch that aural itch is a little jangly college rock.  And so we have Massachusetts band Jeanines and their new album "How Long Can It Last."  Album opener "To Fail" hits all those right notes like something coming out of an Athens radio station in the '80s.  Check it out below and and get the LP here from Slumberland.
