Sick Gazelle

Nirosta Steel

Nirosta Steel is the songwriting moniker of Steven Hall, who collaborated with cellist and composer Arthur Russell in the underground, and often queer, New York scene of the '80s.  "My Skyscraper" marks his first official long player, featuring works and re-works of material spanning over 40 years, a collection of "queer love songs, nightlife hallucinations, and post-rave comedowns."  It's a very cool mix of dubby electronica, down-tempo disco, lo-fi experiments, bedroom pop, and general weirdness.  It rules.  Check out the ode to an ex-boyfriend, "Boss Trix (Benny's Song)," below and order the LP here from Ulyssa.

Vanishing Twin

The fall brings us new music from UK kosmische psych band Vanishing Twin.  Pre-order "Archives" here from Fire Records and listen to the strange and worldly sounds of "Bring Me the Axe" below.

Carmen Villain

"Memoria," the upcoming new album from Oslo based experimental artist Carmen Villain has a picture of a bunch of snails in a glass for its album cover art.  And that seems very appropriate given the practically oozing minimalist electronic vibes of "Entre Nosotros."  Listen to the track below and pre-order the album here from Smalltown Supersound.

SPC ECO

Electronic and shoegaze-tinged duo SPC ECO, the project of Curve's Dean Garcia and daughter Rose Berlin release new music with a frequency you can set your watch to.  Their latest is new album "Phased."  Check out the dark alt-rock of album opener "Up All Night" below and download the whole thing here from the band.

Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein

Scottish indie pop group Belle & Sebastian are very decidedly not drug music.  However, i have a distinct, yet chemically hazy, memory in college of listening to the band's "Sleep the Clock Around" from their 1998 album "The Boy with the Arab Strap," and finding it utterly transcendent for the state that i was in.  (That last part was a pun for all you B&S Heads out there.)  Listen to it below, our Daily Jam.

Early Moon
