Twisted Teens
New Orleans band Twisted Teens released their new "Florida Water Blues" LP a couple of weeks back, an amusing mix of punk, country, psych, and soul that feels like the house music for some party in the middle of the woods. Check out the title track below and grab the record here from cpnpc.

Daily Jam - Danse Kalinda Ba Doom
There's nothing quite like the bayou weirdness of New Orleans pianist and songwriter Dr. John. Flourishes of psychedelia, world music, blues, jazz, funk, and fusion, the music can transport you away to foreign lands and times. Check out "Danse Kalinda Ba Doom" below, our Daily Jam.

Baby Rose
I was fortunate enough the last couple of days to see a few artists playing around town for SXSW, and yesterday i was most fortunate to get to see the positively divine Baby Rose perform at Mohawk. Heartfelt psych and blues-tinged soul from Atlanta. Check out the artist's "Go" below and pre-order the upcoming "Through and Through" LP here from Secretly Canadian.

Sault
Last week, the mysterious and prolific UK outfit Sault dropped five new albums for free download if you could crack the password. A simple Google search took care of that. And now this week, they're all available for vinyl pre-order. All five have their own distinct sound and flavor, but are all worth your time. "Untitled (God)" carries on the gospel, funk, soul, and hip-hop of the previous two "Untitled" albums, while "AIIR" continues the Sun-Ra inspired cosmic jazz of this year's prior release "AIR." "Earth" brings in the African tones and beats, and "11" sequences itself behind the group's previous numeric releases. Finally, we have "Today & Tomorrow" which brings in some lo-fi psych blues riffs and children's vocals a la the Langley Schools Music Project. Just phenomenal stuff all around. I spent a bit of money yesterday. Anyway, give them all a listen, check out "Heal the World" below, and pre-order everything here from Forever Living Originals.

Large Plants
A few months back, Wolf People member Jack Sharp released a positively glorious psych rock cover of Madonna's "La Isla Bonita" as Large Plants. And now Large Plants are back with a full-length of fuzzy, riff-laden psychedelia to study runes to. Check out "No Difference" below and order "The Carrier" LP here from Ghost Box.

3rd Secret
I've got to admit that i wasn't expecting to hear music from a Seattle grunge supergroup this week, but here we are. The band is 3rd Secret, and it boasts a lineup of Krist Novoselic (Nirvana), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), and Matt Cameron (Soundgarden / Pearl Jam), which is then rounded out by Bubba Dupree (Void), Jennifer Johnson, and Jillian Raye. The self-titled album pulls from Zeppelin, blues, grunge, and folk, and in some ways feels like a time capsule, but a good one. Check out "I Choose Me" below and download the album here.

Robert Stillman
Yesterday evening, i came across this wonderful and experimental mix of jazz and blues from American ex-pat Robert Stillman and his new "What Does It Mean to Be American?" LP. "Cherry Ocean" is a slowly moving piece consisting of piano, woodwinds, and whispered, mumbled vocals, and it's been haunting me for the last few hours. It feels like moving in a surreal dream state. Check it out below and then head here to order the whole thing from Orindal Records.

Daily Jam - Legs
As i've spent the majority of my life living in Texas, an appreciation for ZZ Top is pretty much ingrained within me and ordained by some higher power. And "Legs" is the first song by the trio that i can vividly remember hearing first, obviously through MTV. And it still bumps. Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Sea of Love
I revisited Francis Ford Coppola's "Dracula" the other night, and got Tom Waits on the mind afterwards, his nervy portrayal of Renfield always being one of my favorites. Here's his fantastic cover of Phil Phillips' classic "Sea of Love," our Daily Jam.

Zeal & Ardor
Zeal & Ardor's unique brand of gospel blues metal has always felt of the earth, a kind of spiritual din of mud and turmoil. And on their latest upcoming EP, "Wake of a Nation," the group focuses that transcendent sound on our current and seemingly everlasting state of turmoil by way of racism and police violence. It feels darker. It feels heavier. It feels real. Listen to "Vigil" below and try not to be moved by it, a mix of anger and yearning, history and despair, and maybe even just the slightest ray of hope. It floors me. The EP is out next month on MVKA. Pre-order it here.

Jim Jones and The Righteous Mind
Let's tear some things up this morning with a raucous stomper from London band Jim Jones and The Righteous Mind. "Get Down Get With It" snarls and grooves, a blast of noisy blues rock to stir the soul and joints. Check it out below and get the 7" here from the band.

Virginia duo Buck Gooter are described as primal industrial blues...and yeah, that pretty much nails the sound right there. New album "Finer Thorns" is out in February on Ramp Local (pre-order it here). In the meantime, listen to album opener "Peace Siren" below.
