Daily Jam - Soulympics

Italian band Zu make a mix of prog, metal, jazz, and math rock.  Naturally they teamed with Mike Patton for track or two.  Here's a cut from the band and the man from 2009's "Carboniferous" LP.  Listen to "Soulympics" below, our Daily Jam.

Boy Harsher

Here's a new track from Boy Harsher.  "Jeans" is probably the poppiest thing the duo have ever made, leaning less towards the darkwave sound they typically do.  Check out the video below.

Paycheque

LA band Paycheque make a mix of synth pop, new wave, vaporwave, and electro-pop that feels like it's being beamed in from some alternate past.  Check out the vintage-looking video for "Heatwave" below and grab the band's self-titled debut here from Mansions and Millions.

Daily Jam - Violet

Feeling in a '90s mood at the moment, so here's a classic from Hole.  Listen to "Violet" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Your Love

Is there anybody out there that doesn't like the song "Your Love" by The Outfield?  If there is, i probably don't want to know you.  It's basically a perfect pop song.  Let's all listen below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime

You may know this song from Beck's version recorded for the "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" soundtrack.  Honestly, i heard that version first.  But it led me to the original 1980 track by UK band The Korgis.  And i think i might like it better.  Check out "Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Thunder Kiss '65

Weather willing, i'm at Six Flags today, riding rollercoasters and eating junk food with my kids, so i'll leave you with a classic from White Zombie.  Listen to "Thunder Kiss '65" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Sex Type Thing

And now for a classic from my early teenage years.  You can practically taste the confusion and angst.  Listen to Stone Temple Pilots and "Sex Type Thing" below, our Daily Jam.

Beck - Ride Lonesome

Beck released a new song earlier this week with the lush and wistful "Ride Lonesome," a track that would easily slide right in with the vibes of 2002's "Sea Change" or 2014's "Morning Phase."  Check out the video for the track below.

Boards of Canada

With seemingly zero fanfare or notice today, electronic duo Boards of Canada dropped a new track this morning called "Tape 05."  And folks, it's beautiful.  Ambient waves and gentle strokes of sound to soothe you inner soul.  I've listened to it four or five times in a row now.  Check it out below and be on the lookout for what is hopefully their first new album in 13 years.

Anna Calvi & Iggy Pop

UK artist Anna Calvi is set to release a string of new EP's over the next year exploring identity as a metamorphosis, shaped and reshaped through the experience of falling in love.  The whole thing was inspired by becoming a parent and features a great array of guest artists contributing, like Laurie Anderson and Perfume Genius.  Check out the Iggy Pop assisted "God's Lonely Man" below and pre-order the "Is This All There Is?" EP here from Domino.

Daily Jam - Love

I don't know how to describe my feelings for Lana Del Rey.  There is just something about the artist that, for lack of a better turn of phrase, rubs me the wrong way.  I don't know what it is, especially when every now and then i find myself completely enraptured by a track of hers.  Maybe it's a love/hate kind of thing, but that doesn't really feel right either.  At any rate, when Lana song gets to me, it gets to me hard.  Here's "Love," our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Stockholm Syndrome

There was a time some 20+ years ago when i was really into UK band Muse.  I saw them live a few times, bought all the CD's (albums and singles), and listened to them pretty incessantly.  Somewhere along the way, we parted ways, but lately i've been listening to those first three albums again, and they are really taking me back.  So dramatic.  Here's a track from "Absolution."  Listen to "Stockholm Syndrome" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Hurt

I'm not one of those people that thinks some artist was born to sing some other artist's song or whatever nonsense.  I just like a good cover, something an artist can make their own while still giving a nod to the original.  Johnny Cash's take on Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" is one of those.  Listen below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Roscoe

It's hard to believe this year is almost done.  It has very much flown by, both the good parts and bad.  Ponder on that with a classic from Denton, Texas indie band Midlake.  Listen to "Roscoe" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Possum Kingdom

Were you a teenager in Texas in the mid '90s?  Chances are you or your friend had a copy of the Toadies' "Rubberneck."  The DFW band was a seminal part of my adolescence, their kinda creepy odes to obsession and death delivered with that evangelical twang setting them apart from the rest of that decade's alt-rock acts.  They even got national play with their single "Possum Kingdom," which is either about stalking and killing a girl or being a vampire.  It works either way.  Check it out below, our Daily Jam.
