New Fat Dog alert!  New Fat Dog alert!  The UK band, a favorite of mine from SXSW '24 and henceforth, just dropped new song "Go Fuck Urself" yesterday, a synth-heavy and sneering dance track to get the body hopping.  Check it out below and download it here from Domino.

Anna Calvi & Iggy Pop

UK artist Anna Calvi is set to release a string of new EP's over the next year exploring identity as a metamorphosis, shaped and reshaped through the experience of falling in love.  The whole thing was inspired by becoming a parent and features a great array of guest artists contributing, like Laurie Anderson and Perfume Genius.  Check out the Iggy Pop assisted "God's Lonely Man" below and pre-order the "Is This All There Is?" Melody's Echo Chamber

Friday brings us new music from Melody's Echo Chamber.  The artist's fourth album, "Unclouded," comes with psychedelic pop aplenty, and album opener "The House that Doesn't Exist" channels the sounds of French pop to delightful effect.  Check it out below and pre-order the LP here from Domino.

Fat Dog

A lot of music dropped over the week while i was away, like "Pray to That," the excellent new track from UK band Fat Dog.  The song takes the band's fusion of post punk, electronica, and Eastern sounds and throws in some sleazy industrial-techno for good measure.  It rules.  Check it out below and download it here from Domino.

Right before the end of last year, 2024 fave Fat Dog released their excellent little earworm "Peace Song" which to some degree has been stuck in my head ever since.  Yesterday they dropped a remix.  Dig on "Peace Song (A Riot in Sydenham Bus Depot)(TowerBlock1 Mix)" below and order the soon to be released 12" single here from Domino.

Fat Dog

With only 6 weeks left to go in 2024, i think it's safe to say that London band Fat Dog is my favorite new artist of the year.  I've been glued to their sounds (a kind of cheeky Eastern-tinged industrial techno post punk skronk) and their antics (ridiculously fun live shows) since catching them on a whim during SXSW back in March.  And today, they've dropped new track "Peace Song."  And there was much rejoicing.  Dig on the tune below and download it here from Domino.

Panda Bear Featuring Cindy Lee

There was a time when i was a superfan of Panda Bear, along with Animal Collective, the artists' indie vibe almost defining a certain era of my life.  I stepped off that train awhile ago, but still check in from time to time.  And on Noah Lennox's next Panda Bear album, the upcoming "Sinister Grift," the artist pairs himself with this year's album of the year contender Cindy Lee on closing track "Defense."  Check it out below and pre-order the record here from Domino.

Villagers

Here's some gentle, wistful, kinda spacey alt-rock from Irish artist Villagers.  "That Golden Time" moves in like a fog and hangs thick in the air, each note reverberating in the ears.  Get the album here from Domino and listen to the title track below.

Julia Holter

The enigmatic Julia Holter dropped her latest album "Something in the Room She Moves" back in March, and it's a delirious and fascinating listen, elements of pop, electronic music, and experimental sounds swirling in an avant garde stew.  Check out the jazz-tinged "These Morning" below and get the record here from Domino.

Beth Gibbons

Panda Bear & Sonic Boom

Panda Bear seems to have been making the rounds lately, and that's probably because he has a new album on the horizon, this time around as a collaborative effort with Spacemen 3's Sonic Boom.  Quirky psych pop sounds abound.  Check out the video for "Edge of the Edge" below and pre-order the upcoming "Reset" LP here via Domino.

John Cale

John Cale has been making music for a long, long time.  He was a member of The Velvet Underground after all.  And yesterday he dropped a new track called "Night Crawling."  It's kind of a groovy, slinky little number.  Check the video for the tune out below.

There was a time when i was really, really into the warped and weird sounds of Animal Collective.  That time may have passed, but the band can still occasionally deliver something new to rattle my ear space.  New EP "Bridge to Quiet" dropped on Friday, and the album's opening track "Rain in Cups" oozes along like music trying to escape the sea.  Check it out below and download the EP here via Domino.
