Anna Calvi & Iggy Pop
UK artist Anna Calvi is set to release a string of new EP's over the next year exploring identity as a metamorphosis, shaped and reshaped through the experience of falling in love. The whole thing was inspired by becoming a parent and features a great array of guest artists contributing, like Laurie Anderson and Perfume Genius. Check out the Iggy Pop assisted "God's Lonely Man" below and pre-order the "Is This All There Is?" EP here from Domino.

Daily Jam - China Girl
It's been a long ass day so far. Listening to some Iggy Pop to wind down, though still working. One of the things i love about "China Girl" is that allegedly David Bowie re-recorded it for his "Let's Dance" album in order to get some extra royalties for his friend. Just cool dudes all around. Listen below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Lust for Life
This column was originally posted in 2018.
A night in 2018: leaving work...picking up kids from school or daycare or Grandma’s house...sit-ups...walking the dog...getting out dinner...picking up a little...folding laundry...reading homework with the kindergartener...making dinner...cleaning up...doing dishes...watching kid shows on Netflix or Prime or cable...putting up laundry...spacing out on social media...bathing the kids...pajamas...arguing about bedtime...picking up toys...reading bedtime stories...five more minutes to play...games...Legos...action figures...wiping down the kitchen counter...telling another bedtime story...watching the last five minutes of the game...carrying a sleeping toddler to his room...watching some ‘80s trash horror movie on Shudder or Prime or YouTube...enjoying one strong, dark ale...letting the dog out to pee one more time...turning off the lights...setting the alarm for 5:30AM...lying down in bed...sore...aching...tired...shutting my eyes...and somewhere Iggy Pop’s “Lust for Life” plays.
A night in 2038: ???...???...???...???...???...???...???...and somewhere Iggy Pop’s “Lust for Life” plays.

Wylde Ratttz
Wylde Ratttz were a veritable super group of alt-rock personalities assembled to basically be a stand in for The Stooges in Todd Haynes's kinda-sorta Bowie biopic "Velvet Goldmine" back in 1998. The band consisted of original Stooge Ron Asheton, Mudhoney's Mark Arm, Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and Steve Shelley, Mike Watt, Sean Lennon, and more. The band's rendition of "TV Eye" made it into the movie and on the soundtrack, but evidently they recorded a whole lot more and have been releasing the sessions over the last few months. The most recent is a blistering take on Stooges classic "Fun House." Check it out below, and get it here.

Daily Jam (Covers Week) - The Passenger
Personally, i think it would be amazing if Siouxsie and The Banshees recorded an album of nothing but Iggy Pop covers. Because "The Passenger" is just so damn good. And here it is, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Evening of Light
Nico is one of those artists whose work crawls and oozes its way into my brainspace and then slowly takes over. I am utterly and completely transfixed by her. So, today's jam comes from German singer/actress/model's 1968 John Cale-produced album "The Marble Index." That record could be her best, though i'd happily listen to arguments for the other five as well. Anyway, watch the video for "Evening of Light" below. It's got Iggy and The Stooges in it.

Oneohtrix Point Never and Iggy Pop
Where the hell was i last August? Somehow i missed that Oneohtrix Point Never scored a film, and that he had Iggy Pop provide vocals on a track. Seriously, where the hell was i last August? Anyway, better late than never to the "Good Time" OST party. Watch the video for "The Pure and The Damned" below and get the record from Warp.

Iggy Pop - Asshole Blues
Miami's Jacuzzi Boys' Mag Mag Records is about to begin a flexi-disc series of releases, and the first comes from the legendary Iggy Pop. "Asshole Blues" is a scratchy, lo-fi, acoustic blues ditty about some asshole who's out to get you...and it's wonderful. Listen below. Pre-order here.

Iggy Pop - Gold
I was a big fan of last year's "Post Pop Depression," a return to form for Iggy Pop that saw him collaborating with Josh Homme of Queens of The Stone Age. The pairing worked wonderfully, and i can only hope for more music from the duo in the future. In the meanwhile, Pop recently recorded a new song, "Gold," for the upcoming Mathew McConaughey-starring film of the same name, this time around working with producer extraordinaire Danger Mouse, and now i want to hear more from these two as well. The track has a Spaghetti Western vibe to it that hits in all the right places. Listen below.

Daily Bowie - China Girl
I will always love Iggy Pop's version more (because it is infinitely better), but here's Bowie's take on "China Girl," your Daily Bowie.

Daily Bowie - Sister Midnight (live)
"A Reality Tour," Bowie's live album of cuts taken from his "Reality" tour from over a decade ago (and the tour i got to see him on) is getting a pretty rad vinyl reissue next month, packaged on three LP's on blue vinyl. Stoked. Listen to Bowie's take on "Sister Midnight," originally performed by Iggy Pop on 1977's "The Idiot," your Daily Bowie.

Iggy Pop - Gardenia
So, Iggy Pop recorded a new album with Queens of The Stone Age front man Josh Homme...and if that didn't just pique your interest and make your day, then i don't want to know what's wrong with you. "Post Pop Depression" is due in March on Loma Vista, but you can listen to the grooving and driving first single "Gardenia" below. Classic Pop.
