Daily Jam - Old School

Slept in until 10am today.  It's been so long since i've done that, i can't even remember when the last time was.  Gonna take it easy this morning.  Sip some coffee.  Watch some NFL pregame shows.  Listen to some excellent '00s hip-hop like the the collaborative Danger Doom project from producer Danger Mouse and the late, great MF Doom.  "Old School" features an assist from Talib Kweli and rides that unmistakable Keith Mansfield "Funky Fanfare" sample into the sun.  Listen below, our Daily Jam.

Karen O & Danger Mouse

Way way back in 2019, a damn lifetime ago, Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O made a wonderful record with producer extraordinaire Danger Mouse with the sublime "Lux Prima."  It was one of my favorite records that year, and now it's getting a reissue with extra 7" featuring new song "Super Breath."  Check that song out below and pre-order the reissue here.

Danger Mouse & Black Thought

Shifting sonic gears a little bit here this morning with some sounds from the upcoming collaboration between legendary producer Danger Mouse and legendary rapper Black Thought.  The duo's "Cheat Codes" LP is out in August on BMG, so watch for that.  In the meanwhile, check out the video for "No Gold Teeth" below.

Daily Jam - Star Eyes (I Can't Catch It)

There was a moment in time when i was damn near obsessed with Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse's Dark Night of the Soul project with David Lynch.  A lot of great music with a lot of great guests (Frank Black, Iggy Pop, Jason Lytle, Vic Chesnutt, and so on), but the two tracks with Lynch on vocals were always my favorites.  Check out "Star Eyes (I Can't Catch It)" below, our Daily Jam.

Karen O & Danger Mouse

I've apparently been sleeping on the collaborative release from Karen O and Danger Mouse, the lush and gorgeous "Lux Prima."  The title track actually came out last November, but i'm only hearing it for the first time now, a 9-minute epic with multiple parts that's cinematic and grooving and pretty damn awesome.  Listen to it below and get the record from BMG.

Iggy Pop - Gold

I was a big fan of last year's "Post Pop Depression," a return to form for Iggy Pop that saw him collaborating with Josh Homme of Queens of The Stone Age.  The pairing worked wonderfully, and i can only hope for more music from the duo in the future.  In the meanwhile, Pop recently recorded a new song, "Gold," for the upcoming Mathew McConaughey-starring film of the same name, this time around working with producer extraordinaire Danger Mouse, and now i want to hear more from these two as well.  The track has a Spaghetti Western vibe to it that hits in all the right places.  Listen below.
