Anyhoo, the closing credits features a new track from Flying Lotus hip-hop alter-ego Captain Murphy. Check out "Mudhole," featuring additional production from Little Snake, below and download it here from Brainfeeder.

Bricknasty
One of the artists that i meant to check out during SXSW is Dublin's experimental R&B, hip-hop, and neo-soul artist Bricknasty. Typically during the fest i try to see some stuff outside of my normal wheelhouse, but it was not to be this year with this particular artist. The timing just never worked. Anyway, digging into his "Blacks Law" album from last October, and it's a weird, sometimes glitchy, sometimes smooth and soulful affair. Check out a combination of all of that on "Bombs" below and download the album here from FAMM.

Lip Critic
Aw shit, it looks like we've got some new music from New York's Lip Critic on the horizon with this May's new album "Theft World." For the uninitiated, the band makes a hyper, frenetic mix of noise rock, hip-hop, hardcore punk, and electronic weirdness. Definitely worth checking out live if you get a chance. Dig on new track "Legs in a Snare" below and pre-order the LP here from Partisan Records.

Daily Jam - 3030
It's absolutely insane to me that it's been 25 years since Del Tha Funkee Homosapien and Dan The Automator teamed up for some dystopian future hip-hop with Deltron 3030. It was kind of a precursor to the first Gorillaz album. Anyhoo, it's a fun listen. Dig on the epic, album-opening "3030" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam (Cheese Week) - White Lines
I have posted in the past about songs that are kind of embarrassing to admit that you like, foregoing the generally accepted colloquialism of "guilty pleasures," and instead considering them to be something more shameful. But i think i may be revising that sentiment just a little bit. I don't want to be embarrassed or ashamed about the songs that i enjoy, and i don't want anyone else to be either. So instead, let's take these guilty, shameful tunes and call them what the are: cheese. This week, we're all about cheese. And who doesn't like cheese?
In 1995, '80s new wave pop superstars Duran Duran released a covers album called "Thank You," touching on songs from everyone from Bob Dylan to Lou Reed to Iggy Pop to Sly and The Family Stone. It's a mixed bag, but it gets a tad cringe (as my boys would tell me) when Simon Lebon and crew take on some hip-hop. Which brings us to today's cheese. Opening the album is the band's cover of Grandmaster Flash & Melle Mel's "White Lines." It's one of those things that just feels like a bad idea from the get go (much like the band's version of Public Enemy's "911 Is a Joke" that's also on the album), but at the same time, it's catchy and infectious, and i kind of love it. Anyway, check it out below, our cheesy Daily Jam.

August Fanon & Billy Woods & Aesop Rock
On Halloween, New York rapper Billy Woods quietly released "Gowillog," a collaborative effort with producer August Fanon that reimagines the artist's excellent "Golliwog" LP from earlier this year. The record features new songs, remixes, and other assorted hip-hop detritus. Check out the scratchy and eerie "Complications" featuring Aesop Rock below and get the record here from BackwoodzStudioz.
