Léonie Pernet Remixed

Léonie Pernet's "Le Cirque de Consolation" was one of my favorite releases of 2021, and now some tracks from the record are getting the remix treatment on the upcoming "Le Club de Consolation" next month.  Check out the bumping Para One remix of "Les Chants de Maldoror" below and download the EP here from InFine.

Daily Jam - Forgotten

I started watching David Weiner's final installment of "In Search of Darkness" last night, so with all that '80s horror on the brain, i guess i'm feeling the horror-fueled synth wave this morning.  Here's a track from one of the artists that really helped kick off that revival way back in 2009.  Listen to Gatekeeper's "Forgotten" below, our Daily Jam.

Parisian Night Suit

It's still very much morning here, but here's some late night, melancholy vibes from Parisian Night Suit.  "Droplets" sounds like watching the city from a balcony at night, alone, cocktail in hand, thinking of someone.  Listen below and pre-order the 7" here from Six Tonnes De Chair Records.

Daily Jam - It's Not Too Beautiful

We've had a 40 degree shift in temperature here since yesterday afternoon, and it's pretty damn cold now.  Gonna work and listen to The Beta Band for a little while.  Dig on the weirdness and the "Black Hole" sample on "It's Not Too Beautiful" below, our Daily Jam.

Lil Yachty

Rapper Lil Yachty just released new album "Let's Start Here.," and it's a pretty cool mix of R&B and psychedelia, pulling from inspirations like the classic rock of Pink Floyd to the more modern psych pop sounds of Tame Impala or MGMT.  Check out the Radiohead-referencing album closer "Reach the Sunshine" below and get the album wherever you buy records from.

Daily Jam - Torn Curtain

In honor of the late, great Tom Verlaine, here's a track from Television's "Marquee Moon," arguably one of the best albums of all time.  Listen to "Torn Curtain" below, our Daily Jam.

RIP Tom Verlaine

We lost a real one yesterday.  RIP Tom Verlaine.

Sightless Pit

I totally forgot we were getting a new Sightless Pit album this month.  The duo of Lee Buford (The Body) and Dylan Walker (Full of Hell) find themselves collaborating with a slew of different artists on the new "Lockstep Bloodwar."  Check out the opening track "Resin on a Knife" featuring Midwife below and get the LP here from Thrill Jockey.

Daily Jam - Fuck Tha Police

I'd say this song feels really appropriate for the times, but if i'm honest with myself, i can't remember a time when it wouldn't be.  Listen to N.W.A. and "Fuck Tha Police" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Facades

My next couple of weeks are going to be crazy busy, both professionally and personally.  So here's some Philip Glass to keep things grounded.  Listen to "Facades" below, our Daily Jam.

Deary

I was fortunate enough to hear this wonderful new track from UK duo Deary this morning.  "Fairground" is a wistful and dreamy mix of shoegaze, alt-rock, dreampop, Britpop, and memories.  Listen below, download it here from Sonic Cathedral, and be on the lookout for the 7" in the very near future.

Meena

Here's a dark mix of shoegaze and post punk from Manchester band Meena.  The band's new "Newspapers" EP oozes and crawls in all the best ways.  Listen to "Blinding" below and get the record here from the band.

Daily Jam - Crown on the Ground

Remembering that time 13 years ago with Sleigh Bells' "Crown on the Ground" was stuck in my head for like a month straight.  Let's do that again.  Listen below, our Daily Jam.

TR/ST - RAZR

I somehow missed that TR/ST dropped a new track a couple of months back for the soundtrack to something called "Impact Winter."  It's an "audible original," whatever that might mean.  Anyhoo, the soundtrack also features tracks from Lost Under Heaven and Cults covering The Walker Brothers.  You can pre-order the vinyl here from Skybound.  In the meantime, listen to "RAZR" below.

Daily Jam - Animal

It's kind of wild how much play Def Leppard's "Hysteria" still gets around these parts.  These parts = my house.  So here's "Animal," our Daily Jam.

iNFO

Here's some weirdly soothing electronic music from an artist called iNFO.  "Uncertain Analysis" sounds like watching the universe, its pieces shimmering and moving through time and space, or like watching the inside of a microchip, its pieces shimmering and moving through time and space.  Listen below and get the "Alkaline Glades" LP here from Icelandic label Moatun 7.

Daily Jam - Sunshower

I was never really able to get into any of Chris Cornell's stuff outside of Soundgarden, either solo or with other bands.  That stuff just never hit me the same way, except for "Sunshower."  I always loved "Sunshower."  So let's listen below, our Daily Jam.

Old Saw

You can practically see the tumbleweeds rolling and feel the dust storm blowing through, all in sepia of course, on the latest from Old Saw.  "Weathervaning" is a flickering candle, a droning dirge of fiddle, pedal steel, and banjo, gray skies over the plains.  Check it out below and pre-order the "Sewn The Name" LP here from Lobby Art.

Smote

Now here's the stuff right here: droney English psych and folk that could soundtrack a community harvest or festival or folk horror flick.  "Genog" is the latest from UK artist Smote.  Check out the hypnotic "Hlaf" below and pre-order the record here from Rocket Recordings.

Daily Jam - When the Levee Breaks

Not me getting back into my Led Zeppelin phase.  Just sticking a toe in for a minute or two.  Listen to "When the Levee Breaks" below, our Daily Jam.

O'o Remixed by Holy Other

I was just thinking that i hadn't heard from or thought about electronic artist Holy Other until i remembered he actually put out a new album in 2021.  Anyway, it still feels like it's been a spell, but here he is now with a remix of a track from Barcelona electronic pop duo O'o.  Check out Holy Other's mix of "Indigo" below, and get it and the original here from InFine.

Daily Jam - Kinder

In the late '90s, there was a moment where it seemed like alt-rock artist David Garza was going to be the next big thing.  Or maybe it just felt that way because my circle of friends really dug the guy and his music, 1997's "This Euphoria" in general.  Anyway, it never came to be, but that album still slaps.  Here's the album opening "Kinder," our Daily Jam.

Kosaya Gora

Russian electronic artist Kedr Livanskiy has teamed with fellow experimental artist Flaty for a new project called Kosaya Gora.  The duo make dark electronic pop that feels like a mix of post punk, folk, and gothy dreampop.  Check out "Motorcyclists Die" below and pre-order the upcoming "Kosogor" LP here from 2MR.

Friday Horror Trailer - A Wounded Fawn

Daily Jam - Cloud Castle

So, 20 years ago, i was in a band in Austin, and our rehearsal space was this big loft on South Congress that our keyboardist's uncle lived in.  That section of Austin was a little different back then, a little rougher.  We would watch sex workers turning tricks from the balcony in between songs.  Occasionally a tweaker would wander in, watch us for a few minutes, and then wander back out.  That sort of thing.  Anyway, the space ended up being used for a Budweiser-sponsored day party during SXSW one year, and being that our PA was being used by everyone, we just hung around all day, drinking free beer, listening to and playing music, and talking to strangers.  I do not remember if the band Hockey Night was there.  But i did find their CD laying on an end table.  So i took it.  Here's a song from it.  Listen to "Cloud Castle" below, our Daily Jam.

Je Suis France

Atlanta band Je Suis France have a new album on the horizon.  Maybe it's called "The Next Last France LP," or maybe it's called "Boombox Bounce with Bassboost."  Or maybe both.  I'm not really sure.  At any rate, the band has dropped a couple of new tracks that may or may not be on the album.  Check out the quick, lo-fi burst of "Carpet Capital" below and grab it here.

Andrea Belfi

Daily Jams aside, this morning i've been listening to "Exotica," a track from Italian composer Andrea Belfi's upcoming album "Eternally Frozen," on repeat.  The album consists of five canon based pieces composed for brass ensemble, percussion, and synthesizer.  "Exotica" is cinematic and hypnotic, tranquil, but a little icy too.  I have a feeling i'll be listening to it all day.  Check it out below and pre-order the LP here from Maple Death Records.

Daily Jam - Thieves Like Us

It's always a good time for New Order.  So here's "Thieves Like Us," our Daily Jam.

Full of Hell + Primitive Man

Not content to just float around listening to '70s electronic krautrock all day, here's some pummeling new collaborative noise metal from Maryland's Full of Hell and Colorado's Primitive Man.  Check out "Rubble Home" below and pre-order the upcoming "Suffocating Hallucination" album here from Closed Casket Activities.

Daily Jam - The Belldog

Silently trudging through my day with some electronics from Eno, Moebius, and Roedelius.  Here's "The Belldog," our Daily Jam.

U.S. Girls

Next month we see the release of the latest album from U.S. Girls.  "Bless This Mess" was written and recorded while Meg Remy was pregnant with and then became mother to twins.  There's an alt-rock meets R&B kind of thing going on, and it's pretty groovy.  Check out "Futures Bet" below and pre-order the record here from 4AD.

Daily Jam - Hours

End the long weekend or start the new week with some TV on the Radio.  Here's "Hours," our Daily Jam.

Fort Romeau

Here's the latest from Berlin based electronic artist Fort Romeau.  "Be With U" floats with a chilled groove, a kind of after-hours, come-down house track.  Very mellow.  Very cool.  Check it out below and download it here from Cin Cin Records.

Daily Jam - You Must Forget

Here's a little '60s sunshine psych folk for what is hopefully a lazy Sunday for everyone.  Listen to Euphoria's "You Must Forget" below, our Daily Jam.

Andrzej Korzyński

Last night, i re-watched Polish film director Andrzej Żuławski's 1981 film "Possession" on Shudder.  It's the first time i've seen it in over a decade, and it still hits just as hard.  If you've never seen the film, or even if you have, it's definitely worth a watch.  Immediately following the movie, i then discovered that the good folks over at Finders Keepers Records, after years of work, are finally set to release the soundtrack to another one of Żuławski's films, 1972's "Diabeł" or "The Devil."  Like "Possession," it's also a challenging and brilliant movie, and also like "Possession," it finds the director working with composer Andrzej Korzyński for the film's score.  And it's rad as hell, a mix of psychedelia, jazz, and horror.  I'm stoked about this release.  Listen to "The Devil" below and pre-order the record here, out later this month.

Constant Smiles

Sacred Bones Records just announced a new album on the way in March from alt-rock band Constant Smiles.  Check the dreampop vibes of "In My Heart" below and pre-order the "Kenneth Anger" LP here.

The Drin

I've written in the past about how cool i think it is that Cincinnati has burgeoning post punk scene.  Everything about that sits right with me.  I just love it.  Anyway, one of the bands from said scene, The Drin, have a new record out later this month.  Check out the propulsive and noisy "Venom" below and pre-order the band's "Today My Friend You Drunk the Venom" LP here from Feel It Records.

Spiral XP

Here's a quick and crunchy mix of shoegaze and grunge from Washington artist Spiral XP.  Listen to "Deja Vu" below and pre-order the "It's Been a While" EP here from Danger Collective Records.

Shana Cleveland

March brings us a new solo album from La Luz member Shana Cleveland.  Check out the very chilled out "Faces in the Firelight" below and pre-order the upcoming "Manzanita" LP here from Hardly Art.

Daily Jam - All I Need

I'm a big time shoegaze homer, and it's still wild to me how wide the net was that My Bloody Valentine cast.  You can hear their sound is literally every other shoegaze band that came after.  Here's a track from "Isn't Anything."  Listen to "All I Need" below, our Daily Jam.

El Michels Affair & Black Thought

New York producer El Michels Affair has teamed with The Roots member Black Thought for new album "Glorious Game."  Our first taste is the cool as hell new track "Grateful."  Check it out below and pre-order the record here from Big Crown.

Friday Horror Trailer - Critters 2: The Main Course

Daily Jam - Away From Home

I've been going through and listening to some of the random records i've picked up over the years, and find myself completely rediscovering how awesome some of them are.  Like Nebraska's Froggie Beaver.  The band's "From The Pond," their sole release from 1973, is a trippy mix of psych, prog, folk, and Americana.  And it rules.  Here's the sprawling "Away from Home," our Daily Jam.

Gorodki

No one does cold and icy darkwave quite like the Russians.  Here's Russian artist Gorodki with "Vampire" from the new EP of the same name to try and soften the almost record breaking heat we've had here in Central Texas the last few days.  Check the track out below and download the EP here.
