John Carpenter
August brings us new music from John Carpenter with the forthcoming release of "Cathedral." And not just that, the album serves as a soundtrack of sorts to a new graphic novel of same name, based on a dream Carpenter had in 2024. It's probably the closest thing we'll get to a new John Carpenter movie, so consider us stoked. Check out "Lord of the Underground" below and pre-order here from Sacred Bones.

Lathe of Heaven
Brooklyn post punk band Lathe of Heaven feel like they're practically submerged in the sounds and tones of '80s darkwave, goth, and death rock. And i mean that as the highest possible compliment. New album "Aurora" just dropped over the weekend. Listen to the album opening "Exodus" below and grab the LP here from Sacred Bones.

Q Lazzarus
Later this year, we are getting a documentary film about the life and music of the late great Diane Luckey, better known as Q Lazzarus. In conjunction with the film release, the good folks at Sacred Bones Records are set to release the companion soundtrack to "Goodbye Horses: The Many Lives of Q Lazzarus," the most complete collection of the artist's music ever heard. Outside of "Goodbye Horses" and a few snippets of demo tracks here and there, these tunes will be new to us all. One such track is the complete cover of the Talking Heads' "Heaven." John Carpenter
While i very much wish we could get some more films out of legendary artist John Carpenter, i have to also admit that this second phase of his career where he smokes weed, plays video games, and makes music with his son Cody Carpenter and his godson Daniel Davies is pretty goddamn cool. And the trio just keeps on churning it out too. Their latest is the upcoming "Lost Themes IV: Noir," a collection of tunes inspired by the sights and sounds of film noir. Listen to the fantastic and moody album opening "My Name Is Death" below and pre-order the record here from Sacred Bones.

DJ Muggs + Dean Hurley + Kool Keith
Hip-hop producer DJ Muggs teams with frequent David Lynch collaborator Dean Hurley for the soundtrack to new film "Divinity," produced by Steven Soderbergh and directed by Eddie Alcazar. I am completely blind on what the movie is about, but the score is pretty awesome, a mix of dark ambient tones, industrial noise, and spooky beats. And on the record's finale, the duo bring in Kool Keith to close it down. Check out "Divinity 2 Infinity: The Odyssey" below and get the record here from Sacred Bones.
