Mac Blackout

Experimental Chicago-based artist Mac Blackout utilizes elements of no-wave, jazz, noise, and more in his sonic explorations, and on the upcoming two-volume "Cycling" release, he finds himself wading the waters of analog electronic music.  Check out Saxophone accompanied "Cycle 1" below and pre-order the albums here.

Noir Boy George

I can often be a total sucker for French pop, and French artist Noir Boy George brings the pop with the upcoming "POLYTOXICOMANE DE TOI" EP, throwing in elements of electronic pop, no wave punk, and more to quirky, delirious delight.  Check out "Injecte-moi" below and pre-order the record here from Pan European Recordings.

Pons

One of the bands i was fortunate enough to see earlier this wee was Brooklyn duo Pons, who i have to say brought a shitload of energy to a 1PM set.  The band make a mix of no wave punk and noise rock and last September's frenetic "Heavens to Peter" cassette is definitely worth a listen.  Check out "Boy's Surface" below and snag the tape here from the band.

Johnny Falloon

I don't know too much about Athens, Georgia based band Johnny Falloon except that i missed them during SXSW, and that last week they dropped this absolutely killer no wave noise rock jam.  Listen to "Bob Dylan's 116th Dream" below and download it here.

David Boring

Winged Wheel

Detroit's noisy, no-wave-tinged, post punk band Winged Wheel have been killing it the last couple of years with their first two albums.  And now we have a third on the way early next year with "Desert So Green."  Check out the nervous energy of "Speed Table" below and pre-order the LP here from 12XU.

SML

Experimental quintet SML dropped on the scene last year with their excellent "Small Medium Large" LP, a weirdo mix of jazz, post punk, no wave, dub, and more.  The band continues that trajectory with the upcoming new "How You Been" LP out in November.  Check out the frenetic "Taking Out the Trash" below and pre-order the record here from International Anthem.

The New Eves

UK four-piece The New Eves are set to release their debut full-length LP, "The New Eve Is Rising," in August on Transgressive Records.  The group's musical style is a cello-laden mix of no wave punk, avant garde rock, and English folk, weird and wonderful stuff.  Check out new tune "Cow Song" below and pre-order the record here.

Anika

Berlin-based post-punk and no wave artist Anika is back with brand new album "Abyss" in April.  Check out the noisy, album-opening "Hearsay" below and pre-order the LP here from Sacred Bones.

Mac Blackout

Experimental artist Mac Blackout is back with new album "Revelation on the Beach," a collection of avant garde instrumental songs that utilize elements of jazz, kosmische psychedelia, no wave noise, ambient soundscapes, and more to craft an almost hypnotic vibe.  It's the sound of staring at the ocean for an afternoon, watching the waves come in and back out again.  Listen to the title track below and get the LP here from the artist.

Tv Dust

Playing like some mutant hybrid of smoky lounge jazz, motorik krautrock, and no wave skronk, the latest from Italian weirdo trio Tv Dust feels like the kind of thing you'd boil down and inject straight into your veins.  Shake and groove to new tune "Last Call" below, an almost Eastern-flavored dirge that's seconds away from going completely off the rails.  And pre-order the upcoming new album "Transition" here from Maple Death Records.

Cold Court

SML

Over the last few years, Chicago record label International Anthem has fast become one of my favorite labels, just constantly upping the ante with each subsequent release.  On deck is the debut album from SML, a quintet of likeminded jazz artists who just started playing together over the last year or so.  "Small Medium Large" is a weird and wild mix of improvisational jazz, post punk, no wave, psych, dub, and more, a whole synthesis of sounds that really sticks to your bones.  Check out "Industry" below and pre-order the LP here.

Beings

Beings is the new New York collective of Steve Gunn, Jim White, Zoh Amba, and Shazad Ismaily.  The quartet make a very cool, avant garde blend of jazz, folk, psych, no-wave, and pop.  Dig on "Flowers that Talk" below and pre-order the upcoming "There Is a Garden" LP here from No Quarter.

Earth Ball

Here's some weird and noisy music from British Columbia band Earth Ball for your Saturday.  I'm sure you've got stuff to do, but you need to listen to some unstable no-wave first.  Check out "A Need to Cool Down" below, which at times sounds like old Sonic Youth, and pre-order the upcoming "It's Yours" LP here from Upset The Rhythm.

Model/Actriz

Been doing a little research to see if i can hit up some SXSW stuff in two weeks, safely of course.  In the event i can hit a couple of shows up, it appears that i may cross paths more than once with Brooklyn post punk band Model/Actriz.  The band's got a real dancey, no-wave vibe going for them, so i would expect the live performance to be fire.  Anyway, they just released new album "Dogsbody" last week.  Get it here from True Panther and listen to "Crossing Guard" below.
