Hawksmoor

Hawksmoor is the experimental project of Bristol based artist James McKeown, releasing a whole slew of material over the last 10 years.  Material which i'm only finding out about now.  And that's unfortunate because it's positively wonderful, a mix of experimental electronics, ambient music, new age, krautrock, kosmische psychedelia, and so on.  New album "Am I Conscious Now?" plays like a meditation tape wired directly into your inner psyche...soothing...caressing.  Check out the dreamy, peaceful "Ti Kallisti" below and download the album here (the vinyl is already sold out).

Tacoma Park

Here's a new track from North Carolina based experimental duo Tacoma Park.  I hear a lot of different things on "Untied," a mix of ambient country music, Americana, new age, krautrock, and a little bit of kosmische psychedelia.  It's cool and floaty.  Check it out below and pre-order the band's upcoming "Baltimore" LP here from Centripetal Force.

Mac Blackout

Experimental artist Mac Blackout is back with new album "Revelation on the Beach," a collection of avant garde instrumental songs that utilize elements of jazz, kosmische psychedelia, no wave noise, ambient soundscapes, and more to craft an almost hypnotic vibe.  It's the sound of staring at the ocean for an afternoon, watching the waves come in and back out again.  Listen to the title track below and get the LP here from the artist.

Broadcast

Next month sees the release of "Distant Call," a collection of demos recorded by Broadcast from 2000 to 2006.  And it will be their swan song.  With the passing of Trish Keenan back in 2011, bandmate James Cargill has painstakingly released as much material the two were working on and more over the last 13 years: demos, film scores, BBC sessions, and so much more.  That door finally closes with "Distant Call."  Tear.  Check out the unearthed and previously unreleased "Come Back to Me" below and pre-order the album here from Warp.

Peel Dream Magazine

LA's Peel Dream Magazine have been kicking around for a few years now and are ready to drop their fourth full-length album "Rose Main Reading Room" next month.  It seems like the band manages to throw some new sounds into the mix on each subsequent record, and the new one is no different, featuring bits and pieces of psychedelia, shoegaze, kosmische pop, krautrock, space age pop, and so much more.  Check out new tune "Lie in the Gutter" below and pre-order the LP here from Topshelf Records.

Broadcast

In September, we are lucky enough to receive two collections of demos from Broadcast, one being "Distant Call," a collection featuring demos recorded between 2000 and 2006 that would eventually become the band's albums that we all know and love.  The other is "Spell Blanket," a collection of demos and sketches recorded between 2006 and 2009 up to Trish Keenan's untimely death that would have eventually become the band's fifth album.  I'm super stoked for these and don't know if i can wait until September.  To tide us over, here's the gentle, whispered "Follow the Light."  Check it out below and pre-order both records here from Warp.

Retep Folo & Dorothy Moskowitz

Last year, Swedish artist Retep Folo and the legendary Dorothy Moskowitz teamed for one of my favorite releases of the year with their "The Afterlife" EP.  Thankfully, it appears that was just the beginning.  The duo now have a full album, also called "The Afterlife," coming our way in March.  Check out the dreamy "The Enchanted People" below and pre-order the album here from Buried Treasure.

Klaus Johann Grobe

It's been a spell since we last got an LP from Klaus Johann Grobe, but here we are with the upcoming new album "Io Tu Il Loro," nine tracks of kosmische psych, exotic grooves, and krautrock vibes.  Check out the loungey "Highway High" below and pre-order the album here from Trouble In Mind.

Retep Folo & Dorothy Moskowitz

Retep Folo is the alias of Swedish artist Peter Olof Fransson of The Owl Report, and Dorothy Moskowitz is an American artist who was a member of the legendary The United States of America back in the '60s.  On the new "The Afterlife" EP, the duo take a strange sonic journey of kosmische psych vibes and analog electronic experimentation.  It's a wonderful but short listen, and now i need more.  The lathe-cut 7" sold out immediately, but you can still download the EP here from Buried Treasure.  In the meantime, listen to "The Black Hill Suite - Falling Skies" below.

Daily Jam - Cybele's Reverie

We really don't listen to enough Stereolab around here.  We need to remedy that.  Let's start with "Cybele's Reverie," our Daily Jam.
