La Femme

French band La Femme have been kicking around for a decade or so now with their particular blend of electronic pop.  Next month brings new album "Rock Machine," featuring the band in full on '80s synth pop mode with English lyrics.  Dig on the album opening, darkwave-tinged "Clover Paradise" below and get the LP here from Born Bad Records.

GWENDOLINE

French duo GWENDOLINE just released their new album "C'est à moi ca," a pulsing, throbbing mix of brooding post punk, icy cold wave, and darkwave synth pop.  Check out the very cool album opening "Conspire" below and get the LP here from Born Bad Records.

VOX LOW

Arthur Satan

La Femme

I caught French band La Femme several years ago at a SXSW day party and was pretty blown away by their wild mix of French pop, new wave, punk, synth pop, and more.  The record they were touring on back then was a blast, but the band had kind of fallen of my radar the last few years until noticing that they've got a release set for this year's Record Store Day.  So doing a search, it turns out their third LP just dropped last Friday.  And it's great.  Check out the bouncy "Paradigme" below and download the "Paradigmes" album here from the band.  You can also snag the LP here from Born Bad Records.

Forever Pavot remixed by Principles of Geometry

Forever Pavot is a French artist who dabbles in psychedelic pop, jazz, and library sounds.  Principles of Geometry is a French electronic act who were responsible for what was probably my favorite album of 2008, their sophomore album "Lazare."  Anyway, some songs from Forever Pavot's 2017 album "La Pantoufle" get the remix/rework treatment from Principles of Geometry, and the result is something i want to hear played in a European horror film.  Listen to "La secte de Surgere" below and get the "La Pantoufle est dan le Puits" EP here from Born Bad Records.

Cannibale

Here's some delightful psych rock from French band Cannibale.  The group's new album "No Mercy For Love" is out now on Born Bad Records, and features an often sun-drenched mix of psych rock, funk, krautrock, and pop.  Listen to "Hidden Wealth" below.

La Femme

One of my favorite band's from last week's festival madness was the French new wave group La Femme.  The band has a retro 60's thing going for them a la Stereolab, but also throw in equal parts B-52's, Velvet Underground, and EDM in for good measure.  They're also very, very French.  Adorable.  Listen to "La Femme" below and get the record from Born Bad Records.
