copperplate
I feel like springtime music should be forthcoming, and maybe that's because it's cool and bright and sunny outside right now. And while we've got some gloom and sub-freezing temperatures heading our way in the next 48 hours, i'm going to dig on the springtime vibes of Georgia artist copperplate. Listen to the hazy dreampop of "Homing Instinct" below and pre-order the upcoming self-titled album here or here (vinyl).
Daily Jam - The City Life
I am a sucker for Italian soundtrack music from the '60s and 70's, so here's a psych tinged folk pop track from Italian composer Piero Umiliani's score to the 1969 film "Angeli Bianchi....Angeli Neri," AKA "Witchcraft '70." Listen to "The City Life" below, our Daily Jam.

Winter & Hooky
Sticking with the lo-fi vibes and weird and warbled bedroom pop this afternoon with the latest from New York artist Winter & Hooky. Listen to "Horseshoe" below and snag the "Water Season" EP cassette here from Julia's War Recordings.
Nowhere Flower
Nowhere Flower is the project of Portland artist and multi-instrumentalist Lila Jarzombek. New album "Heat Dome" is out next month. Pre-order it here from Digital Regress and dig on the warbled lo-fi bedroom pop of the title track below.
Daily Jam - The Message
Cymande's 1972 self-titled album has been on my "to-attain list" for a long while, but as of yet, i have been unable to find one in decent enough shape for a price i'm willing to pay. But someday. Someday these funky rhythms will spin on my turntable. Listen to "The Message" below, our Daily Jam.

The Altons
I know Valentine's Day was yesterday, but here's some slinky throwback soul, R&B, and doo-wop from California band The Altons to slow dance to. Listen to "Where Did She Go?" below and pick up the brand spanking new album "Heartache in Room 14" here from Penrose Records.
Daily Jam - Twiggy Twiggy
When i was in high school, i don't think i was ready for the far out and retro pop sounds of Japanese band Pizzicato Five. I'm ready now. Here's the frenetic "Twiggy Twiggy," our Daily Jam.

The Discussion
Back to the USA with some good, old-fashioned gothy darkwave from LA artist The Discussion. Check out the dark and pulsing "Blue Light" below and pre-order the upcoming "All the Pretty Flowers" LP here from Artoffact Records.
Rude Films
Seemingly all about the UK artists this afternoon. Manchester band Rude Films combine elements of post punk, slowcore alt-rock, and maybe a little shoegaze and grunge to craft a moody, noisy vibe that you just want to get lost in for a little while. Check out "Blood on the Tracks" below and pre-order the upcoming self-titled album here from the band.
Wings of Desire
It seems we're all having a hard go at it right now. Literally 10 seconds on the socials is enough to make you want to stick your head in the sand for all time. And that sucks. And while i don't have any words of encouragement at the moment except that we're all going to have to fight like our lives depend on it, i do have a new uplifting jam from UK band Wings of Desire. Listen to "A Few More Years" below and snag the 7" here.
Factory Floor
It's been a spell since i last thought about London electronic act Factory Floor. And now they've got a new single, and it's an absolute banger. Dig on the icy mix of post punk, electronica, and dance music of "Between You" below and get the 12" here from Phantasy Sound.
Daily Jam - Diagonals
Happy Valentine's Day to any who celebrate. Here's some Stereolab. Listen to "Diagonals" below, our Daily Jam.

The Saxophones
California husband and wife duo The Saxophones are back with new track "Burning with Desire," a retro and jazzy lounge number that sounds like old Hollywood, cinematic and romantic with a dash of noir. Check it out below and download it here from Full Time Hobby.

Thom Yorke and Mark Pritchard
Thom Yorke just released a new track with regular collaborator Mark Pritchard with the icy, creeping synth-laden "Back in the Game." It kind of reminds me of "Decades" by Joy Division, but maybe that's just me. Anyway, check out the video for the song below.
Peter Murphy and Trent Reznor
Bauhaus's Peter Murphy has a new album coming our way in May that for now we know next to nothing about. The one thing that we do know is that it includes new single industrial new wave synth funk tune "Swoon" featuring an assist from Nine Inch Nails front man and Oscar winner Trent Reznor. Check it out below and pre-order the single here from Metropolis Records (it's officially out tomorrow).
Daily Jam - Placing the Blame
Here's a track from the kind of unsung '90s alt-rock band Self from their 1999 album "Breakfast with Girls." Listen to the Ken Andrews co-produced, spacey pop vibes of "Placing the Blame" below, our Daily Jam.

Population II
Starting to dig into some of the names of performers i've seen list for SXSW next month, and one is Montreal alt-rock band Population II. The French language band have a kind of grooving psych, prog, and post punk vibe that should get a lot of eyeballs on them when they're in Austin. Check out "Le The Est Pret" below and pre-order the upcoming "Maintenant Jamais" LP here from Bonsound.
Hekla
I was unaware that i needed Icelandic ambient theremin music in my life, but honestly i probably should have known all along. Enter Icelandic experimental artist and theremin player Hekla and her upcoming eerie new album "Turnar." Combining the strange sounds of the theremin with a practically oozing dark ambience, reverbed and apocalyptic tones, and an icy, creeping sense of dread, the record sounds like the soundtrack to the scariest movie ever...or maybe just the end times. Listen to "Var" below and pre-order the LP here from Phantom Limb.
Preoccupations
Canadian band Preoccupations have announced their upcoming 5th album "Ill at Ease," and dropped a very cool, cult-filled video for fist single "Focus." The new tune has a punchy new wave feel to it that will stick in your brain for an afternoon. Check it out below and pre-order the LP here from Born Losers Records.
Daily Jam - Treasure
Here's some old school shoegaze for your Wednesday morning. Listen to "Treasure" by Chapterhouse below, our Daily Jam.

Daydream Twins
Let's get dreamy with the hazy, floaty pop sounds of Austin's Daydream Twins and new album "Solstice for Embodiment." Check out the sublime "No Coming Down" below and download the album here from the band.
High.
Who can help but love the wave of artists that sound like the kind of stuff you listened to as a teenager? And so we have the grungey, shoegazey, alt-rock vibes of Jersey band High. It's like the noise coming out of the Williams household when i was in high school. The band's "Come Back Down" LP is out now. Get it here from Kanine Records and listen to the album opening "In a Hole" below.
ameokama
For those of you out there that dig on dreampop, shoegaze, alt-rock, post rock, and black metal (and i know you're out there because i am one of you), here's some cool new music from Boston band ameokama. New album "I Will Be Clouds in the Morning and Rain in the Evening" is out now. Download it here from the band and listen to the title track below.
Death-Static
And now for some spacey ambient music from UK artist Death-Static. Listening to "Reentry," my first comparison is naturally to Eno's "Apollo" LP, the music consisting of tranquil and far-out sounds that could easily soundtrack a moon-landing or just the vast emptiness of space. And honestly, if your ambient project gets an Eno comparison, you're doing something right. Listen to the track below and get the artist's debut album "Tim Is Ignorance" here from Sound In Silence.
Moon Destroys
Moon Destroys is the stoner hard rock and alt-rock project of ex-Torche member Juan Montoya and ex-Royal Thunder member Evan Diprima. Check out the crunchy, psych-tinged "The Nearness of June" below and pre-order the band's upcoming new album "She Walks by Moonlight" here.

John McKay
John McKay's original claim to fame was as the guitarist for Siouxsie and The Banshees, departing the band hours before a tour was to begin in 1979 over an argument with Siouxsie. He bounced around sporadically playing in other projects, his guitar playing being influential to folks like Jim Reid of Jesus and Mary Chain, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, and The Edge from U2, but we never got a full collection of music from him. Until now. Upcoming new album collects for the first time a bunch of tracks recorded shortly after McKay's departure from Siouxsie and the Banshees. Few people have ever heard this stuff before, so we are in for a treat. Check out "Flare" below and pre-order the "Sixes and Sevens" LP here from Tiny Global Productions.
Daily Jam - M.J.
It's Monday. I'm exhausted. You're exhausted. Let's get weird with some avant garde electronics and free form jazz from Annette Peacock and Paul Bley. Listen to "M.J." below, our Daily Jam.

Pink Mountaintops
I haven't thought about Pink Mountaintops in a long time. But i guess that's on me since the Stephen McBean (Black Mountain) project has been rolling for years and years now. Anyway, new rock tune "Paranoia" dropped a few weeks ago. Check it out below and download it here.
Daily Jam - The Change
Fell down a YouTube rabbit hole the other day and landed on the 1977 album "Calling You" by krautrock band Medusa. Here's a cut from it. Listen to "The Change" below, our Daily Jam.

Jefre Cantu-Ledesma
A platoon of 8 and 9 year olds are about to descend on my house in about 25 minutes for my youngest son's sleepover birthday party. It's gonna get loud. But it looks like i have just enough time to listen to and possibly meditate to the latest 20-minute opus from Jefre Cantu-Ledesma. "The Milky Sea" is the opening track to the upcoming "Gift Songs" LP due next month. Here's hoping it calms my already frayed nerves. Check it out below and pre-order the record here from Mexican Summer.
Sacred Skin Remixed by HEALTH
LA darkwave synth pop group Sacred Skin just dropped their new "The Lights" single featuring a gloomy remix by fellow LA troublemakers HEALTH. Check the mix out below and download it all here from Artoffact Records.

For my money, De La Soul's "3 Feet High and Rising" is still one of the greatest hip-hop records ever released. Here's a track from it. Listen to "The Magic Number" below, our Daily Jam.

Divide and Dissolve
Heavy Australian band Divide and Dissolve have a new album coming out in April called "Insatiable." Here's a message from the band:
Divide and Dissolve's music is an acknowledgement of the dispossession that occurs due to colonial violence, it honours ancestors, opposes white supremacy and calls for indigenous sovereignty. Strapped with thunderstorms of crashing cymbals, crunchy feedback, stomach-churning riffs and neo-classical inflections, the new collection delves into the idea of freedom through impermanence and destruction vs compassion, an urgent call to imagine a better world before it’s too late. Listen to it, digest it, and become insatiable.

Fuck yeah.

Daily Jam - The Number Song
It seems insane to me that DJ Shadow's game changing album "Endtroducing...." is quickly approaching its 30th anniversary. Just wild stuff. Here's a cut from it. Listen to "The Number Song" below, our Daily Jam.

Mizmor & Hell
Fellow Oregon bands Mizmor and Hell have collaborated in the past, fusing the former's black metal drone and the latter's funereal doom metal into cacophonous bliss. Over a decade later, and they're at it again with upcoming new album "Alluvion." This one's going to be full of noise and gloom. Check out "Pandemonium's Throat" below and pre-order the album by download here or on vinyl here from Gilead Media.

Daily Jam - Aquarius
I work for a teacher association, and over the weekend we held our annual convention. Each year we have a theme of sorts, and my bosses have seen fit to put me in charge of creating a playlist of music to run during the event. This year's theme was math as our exiting President is a math teacher. And you better believe i put Boards of Canada's "Aquarius" on the mix. Listen below and count along, our Daily Jam.
