Daily Jam - The Shadow of Your Smile

My busy season at work typically doesn't begin until about the middle of July, but i am absolutely slammed today.  And it looks like it's going to carry on into next week.  Ugh.  But for now, i'm going to take a couple of minutes and listen to the soothing, gentle bossa nova sounds of Brazilian-born, Japan-based artist Sonia Rosa.  From her 1970 album "Sensitive Sound of Sonia Rosa," listen to "The Shadow of Your Smile" below, our Daily Jam.

Nyron Higor

Here's one i missed out on from way earlier this year.  Brazilian artist Nyron Higor fuses jazz and bossa nova into just about the hippest, smoothest thing you've ever heard on "Ciranda," the opening track of this year's self-titled release.  Check it out below and get the record here from Far Out Recordings.

Daily Jam - Insensatez

I first heard Antonio Carlos Jobim's instrumental version of "Insensatez" on the "Lost Highway" soundtrack when i was in high school.  I've loved it ever since.  And i remember when i was a senior in college, i lived with one of my best friends.  I was listening to this song while making dinner, and she came home from class, saw me cooking, saw me drinking a glass of wine, and heard the music.  "Are you going to try and seduce me tonight?"  Good times.  Listen below, our Daily Jam.
