Hey! You! It's My Favorite 10 Movies of 2025

Well, i've seen all i can see before the clock strikes midnight tonight.  It's time to pick my favorite movies of the year.  There's a lot of excellent stuff out there.  Here's what i got: a gnarly Australian horror film, a bleak neo-western from Ari Aster about the awful state of humanity, a horror master's take on an all time classic, an earnest tale about life, death, and the universe, a dystopian yarn, an over-the-top horror comedy, a Thomas Pynchon adaptation, a vampire story that's about so very much more than vampires, a stomach-churning, body-horror take on a fairytale, and a horror flick about missing children.  None of these blurbs of mine really, truly describe how excellent these movies are...you'll just have to see them for yourself.  Check 'em out.

My Favorite Movies of 2024

It's New Year's Eve.  And there are some good bowl games on TV.  Time to accept the fact that i'm probably not going to see anymore 2024 movies.  So, time to drop a list of my year-end favorites.  I'm limiting myself to 10 films this year, leaving a bunch of great stuff out (Challengers, The Shadow Strays, Dune 2, etc.), but i really, really love the movies that it settled on.  We've got ghost stories, action spectaculars, introspective slow burns, cults, surrealism, serial killers, body builders, vampires, gallons and gallons of goop, and more assorted weirdness.  Here's hoping that 2025 can deliver the goods the same way 2024 did.  Without further ado, here are my favorite films of the year in alphabetical order.

And Now...My Favorite Movies of 2023

I had a very hard time deciding what to put on my year-end favorite movie list this year.  In a lot of ways, i feel like i failed to see some stuff that i would certainly enjoy (think "Godzilla Minus One" or "Poor Things"), and i also crammed as many movies into my eyeholes as possible the last week that i was unable to catch in theaters earlier in the year.  Anyway, i think these 15 are the best i can assemble for now.  I don't believe i have a favorite, and these are presented alphabetically, but i do think it's something that the whole "Barbenheimer" event from this summer actually churned out two of the best flicks of 2023.  So without further ado, here are my favorite films of the year...

Favorite 20 Movies of 2022

Well, i waited as long as i could to write up my favorite movies of the year.  Time will not allow me to view anymore, but that's okay i guess.  I'm hoping to catch some things like The Fabelmans and Babylon sooner rather than later.  Anyway, there's a lot of horror as per usual, a kids movie i did not expect to like nearly as much as i did, an extremely divisive "biopic," a hilarious "biopic," an episode from a Netflix anthology (cheating), and so much more.  It's always hard to pick a favorite, but if you twisted my arm, it would probably be RRR.  Now, i've been cleaning the house all day, which with two young boys after Christmas is the endeavor you'd expect it to be, so i'll just let the titles and posters speak for themselves.  Check 'em out.
