FACS

Angular Chicago post punk band FACS have a new record coming our way in February.  That's excellent news on its own since they're a great band, but it's also notable as the last album the late, great Steve Albini recorded and engineered before his unexpected death earlier this year.  Pre-order "Wish Defense" here from Trouble In Mind, and listen to the punchy title track below.  RIP Steve.

The Serfs

Part of Cincinnati's burgeoning post punk scene, The Serfs incorporate elements of industrial synth pop and dance floor grooves into their punk sound, feeling like they could have been making heads nod and asses shake decades ago in Manchester.  Last month they dropped new single "Paid in Full b/w Regen" on Trouble In Mind Records.  Both songs are definitely worth your time, but for the moment, dig on the B-side below and get the 7" here.

Nightshift

Glasgow band Nightshift just dropped their latest album, "Homosapien," today on Trouble In Mind Records.  Check out the swaying, hummable "Phone" below and grab the album here.

Mountain Movers

Connecticut band Mountain Movers just dropped their latest album today, the sprawling and trippy "Walking After Dark."  The album blends psych, folk, drone, and other assorted sounds into a heady stew that's the sonic equivalent of getting baked and watching a beautiful sunset from a good friend's back porch.  Listen to the album opening "Bodega on My Mind / The Sun Shines on the Moon" below and get the record here from Trouble in Mind.

Writhing Squares

Philly duo Writhing Squares are back in April with a new gonzo mix of post punk, space rock, prog, and other assorted madness.  New tune "Barbarians" finds the band in stomping mode, chugging, fist-pumping bombast and freaky sax.  Check it out below and pre-order the "Mythology" LP here from Trouble in Mind.

Klaus Johann Grobe

Nightshift

Chicago label Trouble in Mind has no lack of great artists in its repertoire, and the next couple of months will see the release new records from at least two of these wonderful bands.  The first drops in February from Glasgow act Nightshift.  The "Zöe" LP is a brooding mix of post punk and no wave that feels like an intoxicated, off-kilter walk into the city night.  Check out "Make Kin" below, a thumping groove with a clarinet that slinks its way around like a hunting shark, and pre-order the record here.

Mac Blackout

Chicago artist Mac Blackout makes a kind of No Wave sounding blur of improvisational jazz, electronic music, and post punk.  It's a dense and layered sound that often feels like it's being broadcast in from some other dimension.  Check out "Love Profess" below and grab the new album of the same name here from Trouble In Mind.

Melenas
