The Lemon Twigs
Here's a new jangler from New York duo The Lemon Twigs. The band has a wonderful way of fusing power pop, jangle, college rock, and psych pop into pure sunshine. And that's all present on new single "I've Got a Broken Heart." Check it out below and pre-order the 7" here from Captured Tracks.

The Telephone Numbers
San Francisco band The Telephone Numbers make a lovely mix of jangle pop, psych pop, and college radio rock, little throwback indie earworms for young and old. Jeanines
Sometimes the only thing that will scratch that aural itch is a little jangly college rock. And so we have Massachusetts band Jeanines and their new album "How Long Can It Last." Album opener "To Fail" hits all those right notes like something coming out of an Athens radio station in the '80s. Check it out below and and get the LP here from Slumberland.

Grand Ephemeris
I started writing this blog way, way back in 2009, which honestly feels like a lifetime or two ago now. 16 years later, i'm still going strong because i genuinely love to introduce people to music they've never heard before. I'll probably continue to keep it up because of that, but there are a few additional perks to writing about music online. For one, every now and then i'll receive free music from an artist or label in the form of a download code, CD or cassette, and even vinyl once in a blue moon. The other perk is when i get to play hype man for a friend's work. Enter Austin area band Grand Ephemeris and the brothers Harrison. The group makes a singalong mix of Americana, psych pop, and college indie rock. And they dropped their new "Surface Recursive" EP today, a collection of reworked and rerecorded older tracks. Throw them a few bucks for it here and listen to "Pick Your Socket" below.

Sharp Pins
Chicago's Sharp Pins make the kind of pop that sticks in my ears like sugary sweet candy, a delightful and infectious mix of jangle pop, college rock, psych folk, and timeless hummable, melancholy melodies. The band's new album "Radio DDR" is out now. Get it here from Perennialdeath and listen to the excellent "You Don't Live Here Anymore" below.

Daily Jam - (Don't Go Back to) Rockville
A short while ago, i wrote about how i needed to get into an R.E.M. phase. Proud to report that that phase is currently in swing. Here's a track from "Reckoning." Listen to "(Don't Go Back to) Rockville" below, our Daily Jam.

Semi Trucks
Turn things up with the energetic jangle pop of LA's Semi Trucks. The band have that old school college rock radio sound down tight, all distorted guitars and sunny hummable melodies. Check out "Lou and Edie" below and pre-order the upcoming "Georgia Overdrive" LP here from Post Present Medium.

Daily Jam - E-Bow the Letter
I go through phases constantly where i'll get really into the back catalog of a band or artist: a Led Zeppelin era, a Prince era, a T. Rex era, etc. And i believe i am starting to get into my R.E.M. era. It wouldn't be the first time. Here's a cut from the band's fantastic 1996 album "New Adventures in Hi-Fi" featuring the wonderful Patti Smith on backing vocals. Listen to "E-Bow the Letter" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Something in the Air (12" Mix)
D'f was a short lived Japanese band in the mid '80s. Inspired by the music of UK new wave and post punk at the time, the group's sound fits right in with that first wave flavor. Listen to the dreamy and excellent 12" mix of "Something in the Air" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Death Is Hanging Over Me
It's late, and it's been a long day full of elementary school fall festivals, college football, and cleaning the fuck out of our house. So now it's time for some good old fashioned downer music. Here's the wonderful Nikki Sudden & The Jacobites with "Death Is Hanging Over Me," our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Anything, Anything (I'll Give You)
I heard Dramarama's "Anything, Anything (I'll Give You)" on the radio the other day and was reminded how awesome of a song it is. So, here it is again. Listen below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Stumbling Block
Among the cool, older stuff i've stumbled upon this year, one of the hippest has been the late-'80s/early-'90s New York alt-rock band Love Child. Contemporaries of bands like Sonic Youth, The Pixies, Galaxie 500, and more, the trio made noisy, crunchy college rock for Gen X earholes. Check out "Stumbling Block" from the band's final album "Witchcraft" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - The Sun Shines Down on Me
I still consider myself very fortunate to have been able to see Daniel Johnston perform before he passed away. Here's one of my favorites. Listen to "The Sun Shines Down on Me," below, our Daily Jam.
