Midweek Circle

Stumbled upon some great new music from Edinburgh band Midweek Circle while bumming around on Bandcamp the other night.  The group makes throwback pop with elements of folk, kosmische psychedelia, and plenty of analog synthesizers that feels like it's being broadcast from some mysterious valley in Great Britain.  Check out "In the Wind" below and grab the "Macramé For Beginners" cassette here from the band.

Tele Novella

While i was at the beach last week, Austin's Tele Novella dropped new tune "Ring of Stones."  And it's lovely, a mix of psych folk, spaghetti western vibes, and indie pop.  Check it out below and download it here from Kill Rock Stars.

Woodwose

Here's a little indie psych folk from Philly duo Woodwose for you Friday afternoon.  The band's self-titled album is out in July.  Dig on the folk horror vibes of "Younger Animals" below and pre-order the album here.

Herb Lore

Here's some stark and gray psych folk from Brooklyn project Herb Lore.  New album "Mysticism" came together during the artist's trips through the Pacific Northwest and Canada's eastern coast.  The album is a sprawling mix of folk, drone, field recordings, and hypnotic tones, a search for some kind of greater inner tranquility.  Check out "Interrupted Meditation" below and grab the cassette here from Inner Islands.

Greg Weeks

Pennsylvania based psych artist Greg Weeks (Espers) dropped his latest solo effort, "If the Sun Dies," last month, bits of folk and Americana splashed in acid.  Check out the title track below and grab the LP here.

Daily Jam - Rescue

The Thorn

Here's a new track from London based band The Thorn, formerly known as Large Plants.  On "Fountain," the band really leans into autumnal English psych folk.  It's quite lovely.  Listen below and download it here.

Grass

Grass was a very short lived '00s psych folk supergroup of sorts, featuring members of Espers, Vetiver, and Brightblack Morning Light.  They recorded some tracks in 2006 that never saw the light of day...until now.  Almost two decades later, and the band's self-titled debut is ready for the masses this fall from Spiritual Pajamas.  Take a trip back to the indie-aughts with "Summer in the Wasteland" below and pre-order the LP here.

The Moment of Nightfall

I first heard Japanese band The Moment of Nightfall late last year on their collaborative effort with Bay Area artist Tony Jay.  Yesterday, the band dropped their new album "Memories Disappear in Echoes" on Paisley Shirt Records.  The whole thing plays like a dream, elements of psych folk, bedroom pop, and some lo-fi electronic bits swirling in an ethereal haze.  Listen to "December Wind (Complete Version)" below and snag the cassette here.

Alien Eyelid

Hailing from Houston, Texas, Alien Eyelid make a kind of cosmic Americana steeped in the sounds of alt-country and psych-folk playing to the misfits and drunks at the honkytonk at the edge of the universe.  The band's new album "Vinegar Hill" is out in September.  Pre-order it here and listen to the stellar title track below.

Bonnie Dobson & The Hanging Stars

UK band The Hanging Stars make a lovely mix of psych, folk, alt-country, and Americana, the kind of thing you would expect to arise from the southwestern canyons of the US.  Their upcoming new album "Dreams" finds the band paired with '60s/'70s Canadian singer/songwriter and psych folk artist Bonnie Dobson.  Check out new song "Baby's Got the Blues" below and pre-order the LP here from Loose.

Sharp Pins

Chicago's Sharp Pins make the kind of pop that sticks in my ears like sugary sweet candy, a delightful and infectious mix of jangle pop, college rock, psych folk, and timeless hummable, melancholy melodies.  The band's new album "Radio DDR" is out now.  Get it here from Perennialdeath and listen to the excellent "You Don't Live Here Anymore" below.

Mamuthones

Here's some dark and funereal psych folk weirdness from Italian band Mamuthones.  The group's new album "From Word to Flesh" is out now on Rocket Recordings and plays like a veritable death dream.  Order it here (download) or here (vinyl) and listen to the album opening "Burn from Inside" below.

Cuneiform Tabs

Oakland band Cuneiform Tabs make the kind of psych folk i feel was permeating the indie and underground scenes 20 years ago, weird freak sounds pulling from our tripped out past and present.  At any rate, it's excellent.  The band's new album "Age" is out next month.  Order it here from Superior Viaduct and listen to "Ivy" below.

Jeremy Bradley Earl

Woods was one of those bands i got into pretty heavily back in the indie rock heyday of the late '00s, their distinct brand of lo-fi psych folk singing to my soul.  Band member Jeremy Bradley Earl is set to release his debut solo material next month with the upcoming "Four Songs" EP.  Listen to the excellent "Let the Snow Fall" below and pre-order the album here or here (cassette) from Woodsist.

Ora Cogan

Here's some strange and dreamy, synth and string laden psych folk from Ora Cogan.  New tune "LUCILE" sounds like some kind of ethereal hallucination, walking through an enchanted forest in a dream.  Check it out below and pre-order the "Bury Me" EP on 7" here from the artist.
