Daily Jam (October Edition) - Body Betrays Itself

I've been picking and choosing all kinds of stuff for my Halloween themed Daily Jams this month, from film score to novelty tune to genuinely creepy pop song, and i honestly don't thing anything sounds as ultimately terrifying as "Body Betrays Itself," a noisy, discordant industrial-tinged song from experimental artist Pharmakon's 2014 album "Bestial Burden."  It sounds like someone going mad as walls of reality crumble about them.  Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Pharmakon

Experimental noise artist Pharmakon has a new album of abrasive, stomach-churning sound headed our way at summer's end called "Devour."  It's about self-cannibalism because of course it is.  Anyway, check out the first taste of the record, "Self Regulating System," below and pre-order it here from Sacred Bones.

Pharmakon - Transmission

Experimental artist Pharmakon's music sounds like getting your fingernails pulled off.  It sounds like the whole world on fire around you and being helpless to do anything about it.  So yeah, it sounds like the here and now.  New album "Contact" is due in March on Sacred Bones.  Listen to "Transmission" below.

Side note: I believe 2017 now has it's first entry into my favorite album artwork list.

Cheena

Here's a bleary-eyed and fuming new jam from New York band Cheena.  "Did I Tell You Last Night?" is a hard-drinking, hard-smoking mix of dust and glam that feels like partying in the big city.  It also features noise artist Pharmakon (Margaret Chardiet) on guitar...and that's pretty cool.  Listen below and grab the self-titled 7" from Sacred Bones.

Pharmakon covers Nancy Sinatra

Every year on Record Store Day, Sacred Bones Records releases a compilation album of rare or unused tracks from their artists called "Todo Muere"...and every year it totally kicks ass.  2014 looks to be no different.  One of the highlights has to be this haunting cover of Nancy Sinatra's "Bang Bang" from experimental noise/drone artist Pharmakon.  Pharmakon was one of the more interesting acts to surface last year and i love, love, love Nancy Sinatra, so this is right up my alley.  Take a listen below and be sure to grab the record on April 19th.

Varmakon (Var and Pharmakon)

Two of our favorite noise makers of late, Var and Pharmakon, played a one off show together in New York a few days ago.  Watch the performance of "Hair Like Feathers" and "Crawling on Bruised Knees" below.

Pharmakon

Unstable industrial noise, a sonic assault on the senses that brings to mind images of black and white battle fields, strung barbwire, bloody boots, choking on mud.  A cacophony.  Such is "Abandon," the new album from art house noise maker Margaret Chardiet, otherwise known as Pharmakon.  Listen to the unsettling "Crawling on Bruised Knees" below and be on the lookout for "Abandon" in May from the always excellent Sacred Bones.
