Daily Jam - Innocent Eye, Crystal See

Here is some wonderfully soothing and epic music from American violist and composer Eyvind Kang.  "Innocent Eye, Crystal See" comes from the 2003 album "Virginal Coordinates," a beautiful collection of songs recorded live in Italy in 2000.  Listen carefully and you'll recognize Mike Patton (Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, etc.) providing the vocals.  Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam (October Edition) - Floe

I recently rewatched the 1989 Dario Argento produced, Michele Soavi directed "The Church," or "La Chiesa," and as per usual with Italian horror flicks, was totally drawn in by the soundtrack.  Here's a sample of it written by minimalist composer Philip Glass and conducted/performed by Martin Goldray.  Listen to the neo-classical synths of "Floe" below, our Daily Jam.

I've still got a lot of work to do this afternoon, so gonna crack my fingers, get to work, and listen to some minimalist, experimental neo-classical world music from American composer and multi-instrumentalist Eyvind Kang.  Specializing in the viola, the artist has played with everyone from Mr. Bungle to Blonde Redhead.  New album "Riparian" is out next month.  Pre-order it here from Kou Records and listen to "Riparian A" below.

The Cosmic Tones Research Trio

Here's some pretty wonderful new spiritual jazz from The Cosmic Tones Research Trio.  "Spirit of Truth" feels as equally indebted to new age and classical compositions as it does to jazz music, and i can already tell i'm going to be coming back to this one all day.  Check it out below and pre-order the band's upcoming new, self-titled album here from Mississippi Records.

Romance

I'm not quite sure how to describe the music of UK artist Romance's upcoming new album "Love Is Colder than Death."  Experimental?  Ambient?  Minimalist?  Yes, it's all of these things, but going by opening track "Too Much Love," it sounds like the soundtrack to some Lynchian nightmare, and kind of ambient Noir that's both haunting and entrancing.  Check it out below and pre-order the download here from ECSTATIC (the vinyl is already sold out).

Jeremiah Chiu & Marta Sofia Honer

Electronic artist Jeremiah Chiu and violist Marta Sofia Honer released one of my favorite records last year in collaboration with composer Ariel Kalma with "The Closest Thing to Silence."  The duo is back with the upcoming "Different Rooms," an avant garde mix of jazz, new age, and neo-classical compositions.  Listen to "Mean Solar Time" below and pre-order the LP here from International Anthem.

Fuubutsushi

Fuubutsushi is the project of LA-based multi-instrumentalist and composer Patrick Shiroishi.  New track "Harmony of Irrelevant Facts" is a gentle, avant garde mix of jazz and neo-classical minimalism, and a perfect song to listen to on a Saturday morning while drinking coffee.  Check it out below and get the lathe cut 7" here from Whited Sepulchre Records.

Graham Reynolds Music

I try to check out a variety of different artists if i can during SXSW, different genres and styles.  One that i'm excited to see next week is Austin experimental composer Graham Reynolds.  The artist makes an avant garde mix of neo-classical, jazz, drone, and more for screens, concert halls, or endless skies.  Listen to "Long Island Sound" below and pre-order new album "Mountain" here.
