Liz Cooper
Vermont's Liz Cooper makes cool alternative rock that nods back to grunge, post punk, trip-hop, space rock, and more. I wouldn't call it throwback rock necessarily, but she certainly wears her influences on her sleeve. Check out the wonderful ballad "Loss of Signal" below and download the artist's new "New Day" album, featuring some positively charming cover art, here. You can also pre-order the physical release here from the artist.

Bloodsports
Here's a track from another band i think i'll check out this week, Brooklyn's Bloodsports. "Rosary," taken from last year's "Anything Can Be a Hammer" LP has an old school alternative rock feel to it, veering into grunge and spacey, moody guitar riffs. Check it out below and grab the LP here from Good English Records.

Cashier
I caught Lafayette, Louisiana's Cashier last year on a whim during SXSW, and really dug their old school alt-rock sound. The group has a new EP out next week, just in time for their triumphant return to Austin for this year's festival. Pre-order "The Weight" here from Julia's War Recordings and listen to crunchy title track below.

Les Arcanes
French band Les Arcanes make grungy, shoegaze-tinted alt-rock that feels just right for a Friday evening before a gaggle of 9 and 10-year old boys descend upon your house. Or maybe that's just me and my youngest's impending sleepover. Shudder. Anyhoo, check out "HMK" below and snag the "D.D.P." cassette here from Stellar Frequencies.
Daily Jam - Oh the Guilt
Here's an awesome, kind of obscure Nirvana track from a split 7" the band released with The Jesus Lizard back in 1993. Listen to "Oh the Guilt" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Sweet Young Thing Ain't Sweet No More
I've had a real bitch of a week this week and last, so i'm taking a few days off to recover at an undisclosed location with some water slides. Hazaa! In the meantime, listen to some classic Mudhoney for me. Dig on "Sweet Young Thing Ain't Sweet No More" below, our Daily Jam.

The Melvins & Napalm Death
A collaborative album by The Melvins and Napalm Death makes so much damn sense, there's a part of me that just assumes it's happened before. But i think the upcoming "Savage Imperial Death March" is the first. And it sounds exactly like we need it to. Listen to the pummeling "Tossing Coins into the Fountain of Fuck" below and pre-order the LP here from Ipecac.

Chat Pile
Oklahoma hardcore punk/black metal/screamo band hybrid dropped a new 7" on Friday that i missed out on whilst working all weekend. The A-side is a beast and the B-side is a cover of an old Nirvana song. Check out both "Masks" and the "Sifting" cover below and download them here from Sub Pop (the vinyl is already sold out).

Main Era
Boston band Main Era somehow manage to melt together every alternative rock subgenre from the last 40 years into one on their latest release, "IV of Wands." It's all there: grunge, shoegaze, post punk, post rock, slowcore, emo, screamo, math rock, etc., etc., etc. I believe i just found what i'll be jamming for the rest of the day. Check out "Double Dragon" below and snag a copy of the album on cassette or CD here from Disposable America.

Daily Jam - Nutshell
Alice In Chains' "Jar of Flies" EP is one of those albums where those first few songs seem to compliment each other so well, it's hard to imagine them apart. That being said, here's one of the songs. Listen to "Nutshell" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Peace and Love
Probably one of the musical pairings that made the most sense ever was Neil Young utilizing Pearl Jam as his backing band for the 1995 album "Mirror Ball." It was just a bunch of pieces that seemed to naturally fit together. Here's a track from said album for your Saturday. Listen to "Peace and Love" below, our Daily Jam.
