Daily Jam - Back Home Again

There's a lot of stuff out there that has never had a vinyl release.  Deserving stuff.  One of those deserving albums is the 2000 tribute to John Denver, "Take Me Home."  Here's Low's beautiful cover of "Back Home Again," our Daily Jam.

Bodywash

Montreal duo Bodywash have a new album heading our way in November with the forthcoming "Laughing at Noise" LP.  New track "Lapsang" has some cool '90s alt-rock vibes going for it, bits of slowcore guitar melodies and post-grunge riffs.  Check it out below and pre-order the album here from Light Organ Records.

Lies

I'm trying to get myself into a writing mood, but for the moment, i'm surfing for new music.  Here's a wonderful mix of slowcore and shoegaze from Italian band Lies from their "Burning Wires, Silent Pull" EP, just released on Shore Dive Records.  Get the album here or here (physical in the US) and listen to "Spectograph" below.

Planning for Burial

Halloween will see the release of a new split 7" between Pennsylvania's metal-tinged shoegaze artist Planning for Burial and Brooklyn sludge metal band Psalm, released by Austin experimental black metal outfit Portrayal of Guilt.  That's a lot of great minds coming together.  Listen to the droney "R.W.H." below and pre-order the record here.

Bondo

LA band Bondo have a very cool, old school post rock thing going for them, with flashes of slowcore alt-rock and plenty of fuzz.  19-year old Tommy is having a field day with this one.  Check out the moody jam "Running Back" below and snag a copy of the band's self-titled LP here from Solid Brass Records.

Early Moon

I had a very long week with work last week, and while i did get to end it with some drive-in fair with Joe Bob Briggs and a trip to the movies to catch the new "Evil Dead" flick, i'm exhausted down to my bones.  Time to let some gently sounds carry me away.  And sow we have the soothing sounds of Early Moon and new album "Overflowing," a tranquil and wistful mix of ambient, drone, post rock, and slowcore melodies.  Check out "It Takes a Village" below and download the album here from Polar Seas.

鼠鼠鼠 the three mice

Here's some lovely music from China's 鼠鼠鼠 the three mice for those late Sunday afternoon melancholies.  The group's new album "Where Is My Mice?" is a hazy and soothing mix of lo-fi bedroom pop, slowcore, shoegaze, and dreampop.  Check out the album opening "Stay Home Club" below and download the the album here from SmallAnimalRecords.

Allison Lorenzen

Here's a beautiful and sprawling new ambient track from Denver based dreampop and slowcore artist Allison Lorenzen.  "Deploy the Stars Upon thy Chest" plays like night slowly falling over a bustling cityscape, the denizens of the the daylight retreating to their abodes while the tiny creatures of the night begin to come to life.  Listen below and download it here.

Hovvdy

Austin slowcore-tinged indie rock duo Hovvdy have a new record coming our way in August.  Check out the kinda jangly first single "Try Try Try" below and pre-order the "Big World" LP here from Arts & Crafts.

Daily Jam - So Much Water

Tacoma Radar was a Scottish slowcore band that put out a couple of records in the early '00s that for whatever reason completely missed my notice.  But the good folks at Numero Group reissued the band's work last year, and i'm diving head in now.  Check out the lovely "So Much Water" below, our Daily Jam.

A Mourning in Heaven

Houston band A Mourning in Heaven have an excellent dour and subdued slowcore vibe going for them on their self-titled album.  It sounds like a gray and rainy day turned into sound.  Unfortunately, i missed them this week during SXSW, but can do my best to remedy that by spending the morning with the album.  Check out "Apricity" below and download the whole thing here.

Main Era

Boston band Main Era somehow manage to melt together every alternative rock subgenre from the last 40 years into one on their latest release, "IV of Wands."  It's all there: grunge, shoegaze, post punk, post rock, slowcore, emo, screamo, math rock, etc., etc., etc.  I believe i just found what i'll be jamming for the rest of the day.  Check out "Double Dragon" below and snag a copy of the album on cassette or CD here from Disposable America.

Pullman

Pullman was a collaborative post rock/slowcore band featuring members of Tortoise and Codeine among others.  Did i say was?  Because i meant is.  The band is set to release their first new material in 25 years at the end of the week with their new album "III."  Check out the breezy, meditative and yearning sounds of "Weightless" below and get the LP here from Western Vinyl.

Lone Distance Driver & Omilgop

Meekness is not weakness.  Earlier this year, South Korean artist Omilgop released the excellent "Funeral," a slowcore-tinged, lo-fi, bedroom rock opus.  He follows that up with an equally excellent collaborative effort, "Our Unsung Memories," with San Diego artist Lone Distance Driver.  "Sunset Memory" plays like something i would have played to death when i was a teenager, underground alt-rock to soothe the soul.  Check it out below and download the album here.

Her New Knife Remixed

Philly band Her New Knife are re-releasing their 2024 "Chrome Is Lullaby" EP with a slew of remixes on the B-side.  One of those remixes comes courtesy of fellow Philly outfit They Are Gutting A Body of Water.  Check out said remix of "Kittyriff" below and pre-order the vinyl here from Julia's War Recordings.

Daily Jam - The Long Sea

I don't know if there's a band that does dark and moody quite the same way that Scotland outfit Arab Strap does.  The band's downtempo mix of indie rock and slowcore just crawls its way into your subconscious and haunts you.  Listen to "The Long Sea" below, our Daily Jam.

Menow

I saw Japanese duo Menow described as slowcore acid folk.  That description certainly piqued my interest, but i don't know if i really hear that in earnest.  On new single "月の約束 (Tsukinoyakusoku)," i hear more of a Japanese pop meets lo-fi bedroom indie rock thing going on.  Either way, it's fucking great.  Listen to the track below and snag the new "白 ~haku ~ " 7" here from Galaxy Train.

Teethe

I caught Dallas band Teethe a couple years back at SXSW, and they've got a cool slowcore-tinged alt-rock thing going on.  The band's new album "Magic of the Sale" is out in August.  Pre-order it here from Winspear and listen to the excellent title track below.

Midwife

Colorado-based minimalist artist Midwife dropped new tune "Signs" today, an unused track from last year's excellent "No Depression in Heaven" LP.  Like so much of the rest of her output, it's moody, melancholy, haunting, and ultimately beautiful.  Check it out below and download it here from The Flenser.
